Which pissed me off. Long should have been booked earlier and that would have been number two. He nearly got an equaliser after that.
Of course I want to beat Sunderland, but the win today gives us wriggle room that a draw wouldn't. Other matches go for us and we will have a nice gap.
I'm sorry but I really can't see how you can call Gastons performance very poor today, even if you take the assist out of the equation. I'm not saying he was outstanding, more like average but saying he was very poor doesn't sit with me at all.
I only watched a stream, but Gaston very poor? Not sure how you got to that conclusion in all honesty. He provided precisely what we'd been sorely lacking up to that point - a threat.
Someone in the Chapel had to be rushed out today because of a heart-attack. Thoughts with them and family.
Ramirez poor? Normally i am a little negative about him, but today...no way!!! The way WBA pressed thought he'd have problems coming on. He lost the ball a couple of times but overall he is definitely improving. Great ball to Lallana for the goal wasn't it? He's still quite young!!!
Caught in possession, poor distribution great pass for the goal [not entirely sure he spotted Adam in space]. Really want him to do well, but he's way off my starting eleven?
I think there was only one stray pass and one time he was caught in possession (without being fouled) that I recall. He was precisely what we were crying out for today and delivered. Not sure what else he could have done really.
Admittedly I saw less than 10 mins of the game but I did see our goal and Boruc's save. When we were dominating teams and not scoring much at the start of the season I said I thought Ramirez would be a good option to come off the bench because he's the type of player who can produce a quality pass or an inspired moment and create a goal. He did that job today so, for me, he can't be called poor even if the rest of his time on the pitch really was poor (and from what others have said it wasn't).
Decent write up here, from "Press Association" which I assume is code for Peachy http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jan/11/southampton-west-bromwich-albion-premier-league
Poor game, but surprised we got a win out of it because didn't look like scoring, plus Webb was in charge, so grateful of 3 points. Really need to up the tempo going forward in games like this against a team sitting back and slowing the game down. I hope Poch is looking round for a winger because to me, it's the missing link in our squad. Someone take Luke Shaw to one side and get him practicing crosses this week please. Front two didn't play well, but to be fair, in the first half, Jay Rod made a couple of good runs that weren't picked up by the midfield. Too busy passing sideways and backwards. Didn't understand taking Cork off. Davis for me was having a worse game and we did look a mess in midfield in the last 10 mins when WBA woke up. Not quite sure what JWP adds coming off the bench because he's not yet strong enough to plug gaps etc. Good ball by Gaston and nice finish by Lallana. Really, apart from Boruc's save, the only two entertaining moments of the match. Oh well, a win's a win, as they say.
That was about as good a game that Howard Webb will ever have in charge of a Saints game. Not saying much really. The man is still a massive ponce, as proven when he gave that freekick against Shaw in injury time. He couldn't hide his glee about giving WBA a late chance and the way he ran over and almost stumbled into Shaw was hilarious. What a div.
The only official I always have complete confidence in is Sian Massey......faultless again today. She really is excellent.
