Never done one of these before, and watching on a stream is never the same as being at the ground.....but.....for what it's worth -

Boruc - 8 - Had little to nothing to do before a world class save that kept us on course for the win

Clyne - 6 - Solid enough defensively but his crossing was very poor and a number of passes seemed to go astray.

Fonte - 7 - Nothing to bother him

Lovren - 7 - As with Fonte, never looked especially troubled and showed a good turn of pace

Shaw - 8 - Ran the wide area well, never really gave Arnautovic a kick and impressed throughout.

Schneiderlin - 8.5 - Never gave Mulumbu a kick, tackled superbly and broke down any attacking threat. MOTM

Cork - 7 - There were a couple of awkward moments in the first half, but solid.

Davis - 7 - Played his part in a dominant midfield, without ever really setting up a threatening play. Felt today we were a bit thin on the right.

Lallana - 7.5 - Majority of positive moves stemmed from Adam's play. Took his goal very well.

Rodriguez - 6.5 - Never particularly looked threatening. Blazed his good opportunity wide when perhaps would have been better to square it to Rickie.

Lambert - 6.5 - Again fairly anonymous, considering how dominant he can be in a game. Did seem more 'up for it' than in recent games though.

    Subs -

Ramirez - 7.5 - Came on and changed the feel and flow of the game. A quite sublime pass to set up Lallana's goal.
Guly - Didn't spend enough time on the pitch for a mark, but threatened a late hat-trick.

    Manager -

Pochettino - 8 - Saw the need for change and made a positive (and correct) call sending on Ramirez for Cork. Would have had adulation and roses thrown at him for that were his name Jose.

Bit generous with some of those ratings I reckon.

Boruc - 7 Can't give him a higher mark because he only made 1 save, albeit a crucial one.

Clyne - 6 Not good enough offensively today, didn't get past his fullback enough.

Fonte - 7 A nice solid game from Jose again.

Lovren - 8 Very impressive today.

Shaw - 7 A better showing from Luke today than in recent games, a bigger threat offensively than Clyne.

Cork - 7 Solid but nothing spectacular.

Morgan - 8 Very impressed with Morgan today. Ran the show in the middle of the park.

Lallana - 7 Good display. Nearly all the credit for his goal goes to Ramirez but he took it well.

Davis - 5 Not great to be honest. Looked flat and was very quiet.

Rodriguez - 5 His pace caused problems but his finishing let him down. Was also greedy when he shot wide when he could have passed to Lambert. Must get more shots on target.

Lambert - 5 Poor display again. Although could have scored one of the goals of the season with a left foot volley. But other than that didn't do much at all.

    Subs

Ramirez - 8 MOTM. Won the game with a sensational pass. Looked threatening from the moment he came on. Gave the ball away a few times but you expect that with Gaston.

    JWP - N/A

    Guly - N/A

Very generous I would say. Although, I totally agree that Shaw, Schneiderlin and Artur were our stand out players. And Gaston made a hell of a difference.

    Very generous ratings indeed

Daily Mail for instance gave these ratings

    Southampton: Boruc 7; Clyne 6, Fonte 7, Lovren 7, Shaw 7; Cork 5 (Ramírez 62 6), Schneiderlin 6; S Davis 5, Lallana 7 (Ward-Prowse 84), Rodriguez 6 (Do Prado 90); Lambert 6.

It was a 6/10 team display for me.

A flat game thanks to the tactics of West Brom. We worked the ball well into the final third(not under the greatest pressure) but a succession of poor touches, poor crosses and some dogged defending from WBA (who were tenacious from Mulumbu backwards). This game desperately needed an early goal :-(

Clyne was pretty bad today. Nothing he tried came off.

Rodriguez screwed up when he could have passed to Lambert, but he does that. He's probably the only player that would have won that ball in the first place. I never quite like him as much as others when he scores, but also never dislike him as much when he doesn't. He still lacks football awareness, so his games are often just luck-- did the ball bounce his way? Ramirez didn't do much other than the pass to Lallana. But then again, that's what he does.

7.5 for Boruc, 7's for Lallana and Ramirez. 6.5's for everyone else, except 6 for Clyne.

I was so disappointed with Clyne's crossing today. He hit the first defender nearly every time. All around an ok performance. We won. Happy days.

Yeah, he looked rusty for sure. Some of his defensive positioning was a little suspect for him. Just a time thing to get back properly in the swing of it.

I wasn't very happy with Clyne either. Today's the first time I've thought Chambers might be a better option.

Yeah Clyne was disappointing, especially in his crossing.

I'm quite sure he knows it though. Was just a bit off the pace today - I'm sure he'll be back to his best soon. Just one of those days.
