Its a nice way for Liverpool fans to spin it but at the end of the day, we got a windfall for Torres and pissed most of it on Carroll. Fortunately, we got an incredible player with the rest plus Babel's sale.
I was actually in favour of signing him at first, remember sticking up for him when everyone was slagging him off because of the fact he was doing it in the SPL. But his goals dried up very fast, yes it may have given us a lift but that wasn't guaranteed and if it didn't give us that lift then people would have just slagged him off anyway. Anyway we're going off topic now. Haven't we signed anyone yet?!
Ironically, I didn't want us to sign him as I didn't think his record for the Scottish league was good enough It doesn't annoy or bug me that we didn't sign him. I would even say I am happy we didn't sign him. My point was that he could have made a big difference in that first six month and he wasn't expensive so I don't agree with most that it was a great escape so to speak.
In the Scottish league! I'd expect much closer to a goal a game, much like I would for a player joining us from from the Dutch or Portuguese leagues.
Not bad but nor was it the starts a a superstar striker in the making. He was always going to be a good addition for a mid-table to Europa League challenging type teams, great for anyone lower but perhaps only a squad player at best anywhere else. that is why I didn't want us to sign him, I wanted us to get players that would help us challenge for top four.
I'm glad we didn't sign him looking at it now but I was in favour of it at first. Don't know if I was posting around that time though?
I know weve been discussing it, but here is a link from the echo: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor...ews/liverpool-fc-transfer-rumour-mill-6492541 Yann Mvila is best mates with Sakho and a very bossy midfielder, would love him, but needs to calm down a bit,
