I wouldn't be concerned about Goldikova's age, as I still believe a Miler is in it's prime at 6. The reason the age stat is against her is because hardly any top class 6yo have ran in the race, as they are usually packed off to stud by then:biggrin:

Just heard an interesting stat on ATR. When Goldikova has hit the front in a race she has never been caught, surely with CC hold up style she is going to be infront at some point

Very good race. Goldi had an extra 1lb overweight to carry and ran a great race but Canford Cliffs just too good today. Would be very interesting to see a re-match on another course. What happened to Cape Blanco?

Will the time of Frankel's race be faster? Can't wait to find out. What a brilliant day's racing.

*rolls eyes* And the winner of Most Inevitable Comment goes to...

Great run from Canford Cliffs, he's a very good horse indeed. Would love to see him (and Goldikova) against Frankel later this season at some point. As for Goldikova, she owes nobody anything, a great horse can lose races and still be great.

And I suppose this "greatness" will be proven when she takes on those trees again at the BC:biggrin:

kiyonemakibi, I do not think there is much chance of Canford Cliffs meeting Goldikova again unless he ventures over to Deauville for the Prix Jacques le Marois. He could meet Frankel if they both go for the Sussex Stakes but Canford Cliffs made hard work of dispatching Rip Van Winkle there last year so the course may not be his favourite place.

I would love to see them go head to head in the Breeders Cup. I doubt if Hannon would risk it though.

No, it's already been proven in her career to date.

A shame there probably won't be a rematch, but hopefully both horses will claim some more big prizes this year.

So Goldikova was putting up 3 pound over weight apparently, I do feel a little agrieved as I did have a bet on the Mare. I realy don't see how that's fair on punters:biggrin:

Just heard that Goldi was carrying 2lb overweight which (theoretically) is worth a length over 8f. Plus Goldi was eased close home (RP comment). That puts them pretty level. An even better performance by Goldi. Put them together on ground a bit softer and I think a reversal is on the cards.

It was only 2 pounds Shergs according to RP and BBC. Though it hardly made any difference to the result as Canford won with a bit more in hand than the length I'm sure you'll agree
