I agree, but in my experience there is no age limit on knobheadary. Knob heads can be of any vintage, and unlike a good Cabernet Sauvignon they do not improve with age.

He should abandon the deal because a player we agreed terms with less than 5 months ago hasn't put in a transfer request to make his club accept the bid we haven't made yet this window? I was doing it long before them, they're just stealing my act.
The signs are there. It might sound extreme, but usually there's a sign(s) when a player isn't exactly chomping at the bit to join the club, and in my experience of following City's transfer dealings those types of transfers fail. In this case his wife is pretty vocal about not wanting the move and citing Long as being in agreement with her, which he has made no attempt to deny. I might be proved wrong, but I honestly think this is going to end with us wasting valuable JTW time and possibly missing out on other targets. SB should give him a deadline of (say) Wednesday to give a yes or no answer.

We haven't had a bid, but our interest in the player is no secret and WBA have made no effort to distance themselves from it, in fact earlier in the week there were reports that a deal was imminent. There seems to be a willingness to consider a deal by the clubs even if nothing official has happened. The only blatantly negative source is the players wife.

You don't know how far negotiations have gone. There might not be a formal bid yet, but there is a possibility the clubs are close to an agreed fee. Sometimes you have to read between the lines and in this case WBA's silence in the matter indicates they don't oppose a transfer. Edit; Written before the big news.
