Love the BBC report on the game, sounds as if Jak had been there all season "One of the easiest games he'll have had all season" LOL.

Considering his other game was against Tottenham, I'm not surprised

Well coming from someone who thinks "No Goal" Danny is the greatest striker we've seen since Waggy and Mr "6-0 Freak Out on every one on one with the opposing striker" Stockdale is a good keeper I won't put too much weight on your views on Jakupovic. The man has ten times Stockdale's ability.

I'd have said he was better than Stockdale (and Amos). A lot was said of the errors he made, but one game doesn't define a career that saw him called up for an International tournament, play in the Champions League and play for some clubs much better than ours (Grasshopper, Lokomotiv Moscow etc). European based goalies tend to be of a different ilk to what we're used to in this country so you have to approach it differently. He kept 3 clean sheets in his 5 league appearances last season and we were unbeaten for 4 of those. After the Sheffield Wednesday game that was apparently it, he didn't get chance to redeem himself. It's so easy to spot mistakes by keepers because they're the last line of defence, but in terms of shot stopping and communication he was miles ahead of Stockdale.

The lad did everything right (bar feigning injury, which tbf was a bit **** of him) in terms of training and trying to break into the first team, but Bruce didn't seem to think he had it in him. I actually think that he was signed in a similar vein to Gedo and Fathi, in that time was running out to get a keeper in and he'd been on trial before, so it was more a case of '**** it, who can we get?'

I think he has a lot to offer a Championship side and he's certainly too good for League 1, but I think the Premier League is a step too far given the quality he'd face this season. I doubt he'll get into the Bosnian first team with Asmir Begovic ahead of him, but I see no reason why he couldn't be in the squad. Good luck to the lad, he's a good pro and he has the right attitude.

Spot on TT. Those who harp on about his admittedly disastrous performance in the Wendies game conveniently ignore his other performances for us including Spurs this year. I'll say it again...he is far more athletic than the slow fumble-hands Stockdale whose latest performance against us when he was way out of position on three goals which crept in at the corners is indicative of his abilities. Good back up to Begovic for Bosnia. Look forward to seeing him in Brazil.

That'll be why Bruce played Stockdale over him every week then. Your views on football seem very simplistic. Stockdale is **** cos his team lost a game 6-0? Graham is suit because he isn't scoring a lot? Why aren't you a manager? Maybe there's a bit more to football than the superficial bits your untrained eye is able to spot <ok>

Having played, coached, officiated, and watched football for the greater part of my 75 years I'll take my "simplistic" and "untrained" assessments over yours any day. You continue to big up Graham when it was long ago evident he was not the answer to our scoring needs. As for Stockdale my views were not based on his latest lamentable performance at the KC but on his poor handling and positioning in several games last season. On the other hand you apparently had written off Jakupovic on the basis of one bad game against Wednesday last year. I'd say your "views on football seem very simplistic".

That makes 3 of us then that rate him. But yes he does need games and going to Orient is a good move for all parties at the moment. I suspect that we shall have a recall clause just in case.

I bet it was not as easy as what Steve Harper had @ Middlesboro last weekend ? Lol. OLM could have been in goal and we would have kept a clean sheet. :emoticon-0105-wink:

I don't know why someone of your apparent maturity is so determined to turn this into a playground argument. It doesn't have to be a personal spat does it?

I certainly don't continue to big up Graham, I just feel some balance is required in modern football where fans like yourself demand goals from strikers and flying saves from goalkeepers. At City every player seems to be either appalling or brilliant. Too many people lack perspective. You've been desperate to hate him since the first few games of the season and I've really no idea why that is, I've just defended him from disproportionate criticism.

Clearly there is more to it than you're seeing, since Jakupovic is playing in League 1 and Stockdale is playing in the PL. If it was as simple as you were making out we'd all be managers, but clearly the likes of Bruce do more than just look at who's scored the most goals to pick their strikers and look at who conceded the fewest when picking a goalkeeper. Anyone can see that stuff and point out the obvious, but some people can see past that and judge a player based on his strengths and weaknesses rather than just stats. Thankfully Bruce is one of them.

It's moot, but Jakupovic really didn't just have one bad game. He had a few games where he did OK but exaggerated every save to the point of making some people wondering if he was really struggling as much as it appeared he was, then made two appalling howlers in consecutive games and has hardly played since as a result.

Seen the quotes from him - how does that work when he's played for the Swiss national team?

He had one cap for Switzerland, in a friendly.

Because it was only one cap and it wasn't in a recognized competitive game, he can switch allegiances.

What a pathetic supercilious response...but I should have expected it from you. You seem to have a very high opinion of your ability to rate players and of others "simplistic analyses". "Too many people lack perspective"...typical of you. You of course never lack perspective. Do you even realise how idiotic you sound. "Anyone can see that stuff and point out the obvious, but some people can see past that and judge a player based on his strengths and weaknesses rather than just stats"...but not you. You can see far deeper of course. Frankly its a waste of time even having a "playground argument" with you. You are far too clever in your own eyes.

What are you trying to suggest? Do you think he went to South Wales for other than footballing reasons? ... and that the reason he left is that he got caught with a ewe down his wellies? :)
