    Summary:

Basel want to much for Salah, but he could be cheaper in the summer.

Right back is unlikely until the summer.

Rodgers doesnt feel Texeira is good enough yet.

    No striker expected this window.

Ilori loan may not happen because of Agger injury.

No one asked about Ferndando, M'Vila or Racitic.

No chance of Mata because of club rivalries.

    No deals look close.

Pearce feels we need a midfielder and a wide player this window.

again... called salah a squad player... we don;t need squad players we need to improve the first team and force someone on the 11 to be a squaddie.

its playing musical chairs... borini, aspas etc... you buy them hope, they sit on the bench they lose value.... every 7mil out is a 2mil loss.. or a 4mil loss.. thats crap

spend 15-20mil on one good player, then drop someone else down.

only buy if its an academy player or a player you think is better than what you've got.

moses is prime example... why bother... sterling proved to be as good or better. assaidi with a chance proved to be at elast as good. so its a waste.

aspas is a great example... borini is better than him but sent on loan... he is pointless.

Rodgers will pull something out the bag. Business at Liverpool these days is very much done behind closed doors (for the most part anyway). Don't listen to all this nonsense journalist rubbish, they get paid to write ****.

The team at Liverpool will be working hard getting the right man (or men), have faith <ok>

Salah is a good player and we could certainly improve the squad depth - we saw against Oldham that we really lack creativity and a spark, something that Salah could help provide.

However, I feel we need to address our weakest areas first. DM and full backs, and I'm glad that the Echo (and also the Times, Tony Evans also did a webchat today) have confirmed this.

I understand that January is a very difficult time to get the right players but I feel if we don't sign at least 2-3 players, then we run the risk of missing out on top 4.

    No problem.

My idea on transfers is you build 2 sets of 11. Thats the priority. So thats 22 men. 2 decent players in each position. Obviously how you arrange those players is differtent per game.

I'll make 2 11's with our current players using the same formation both times. But the first 11 I write wont necercerelly be what I think our strongest team is.

    ------------Mignolet------------
    Johnson--Skrtel--Agger-Enrique--
    -------------Lucas--------------
    -------Gerrard----Henderson-----
    --Sterling-------------Coutinho--
    -------------Suarez-------------

I think ths is pretty decent.

    --------------Jones----------------
    Flanagan--Toure--Sakho--Cissokho--
    -------------????????---------------
    ----------Allen-----Alberto----------
    ----Aspas----------------Moses-----
    -------------Sturridge---------------

This has strong bits and weak bits. Sturridge and Sakho will start most games.

In my method this very clearly highlights these things:

Defensive midfield would be my priority!

Coutinho is better in the middle, so a wide player is needed so Coutinho can go central.

Moses, Aspas and Cissokho have been rubbish! They need replacing.

Borini and Suso returning can replace Moses and Aspas.

Alberto is not experienced enough so I think an addition is needed there.

Thank God for some decent owners and a management team that will operate within set guidelines UNLESS a golden opportunity arrives! Where the hell has all this talk about Salah come from? If he was that good then he's have been on the radar last Summer and as far as I can remember nobody was talking about him. So as far as I am concerned it's just so much hype and rubbish.

We are not the only club who are scouting quality midfielders and defenders so we will have to accept that the services of these individuals will come at a premium. It's January and that is par for the course. So I'll go with Rodgers, unless the right man becomes available keep your money in your pocket and watch developments.

This window is like a pack of cards, one move will spark a rush towards the end of the window as both clubs and players become more desperate. We also have to factor in the WC quotient. If you were hopeful of a WC spot would you take the risk associated with moving club?

It may not be ideal but at least this season we are not down to bare bones - we do already have options within the club.

    This <ok>
I'd love to get a couple or three new additions in but they need to be the right fit, have the right attitude (Moses being a case in point) and will come into the first team and add quality right away, if these conditions are not met, I'd rather keep the money in the bank!

    Indeed it does.

It lacks goals and midfield muscle.

^ This works both ways. There'll be many decent internationals at big clubs who are on the fringes of their national team and need to have visibility to their international coaches. Let's hope we grab a couple! <ok>

    Too simplistic by far.
    Equally, Wrong signings=no top 4.
If the right buy isn't out there for the right price, spending money to satisfy some idea that it solves all problems is disastrous.
I agree we've a thin squad, and it's noticeable when injuries kick in, but if you get the wrong player you're just wasting money that'll be needed when the right one becomes available.

^ This is of course the correct answer.

Fans get desperate for signings in the Jan window, but most business is usually done by those desperate to try & save their PL skins, as opposed to those who are at the opposite end of the table.

Prices are generally inflated in Jan & it's rarely the best time to get any value in the market.

There'll be plenty of loan deals this window imo. As squad players who are desperate to get game time ahead of the WC look to move on. This might spark other activity & a few big money moves will undoubtedly happen, but I wouldn't be desperate for new faces if I was looking at your squad.

Bottom line is that you don't to buying anyone, unless they're better than what you've already got i.e. not squad players, but 1st teamers.
