Confident here. Went to the reverse fixture and thought we really bossed the game (although Big Vic was excellent in that regard and boviously will be missing). Fancy us to win 2-0 with J-Rod bagging both
Think the way our managerial search is dragging now will be a huge blow for us, not least coupled with a very poor performance in the cup AGAIN. I think frustrated is the word that sums up our fans for now, and we won't be high on confidence here, can only see you guys winning, sadly.
Don't get too depressed, this is a game at Southampton you are talking about, it is odd when everything is in our favour how we can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!
Simon Peach is on form this morning. Stirring up Pochettino/Osvaldo leaving rumours on twitter and then picks a fight with an Italian who corrected his misspelling of tutto mercato. Can't wait to see what he comes up with later after the press conference.
Have you seen us this season? By and large, we're awful, we conceded 3 to a injury plagued west ham just after Christmas, enough said!
I must admit I haven't being paying too much attention, I can remember Lukaku last time though! You have got 21 points, so not all bad, only two wins behind us, 9 draws suggests that you may not win many, but not so easy to beat?
Have to say I am baffled by the strategy of the West Brom board. Why sack Steve Clarke, keep all his back room staff, and don't appoint a permanent manager/head coach in a month. Bizarre. Results haven't been bad since his sacking but have hardly set the world alight. Think Steve Clarke should still be there tbh.
You'd think they'd have some kind of contract in place before making such a big move as sacking Clarke, surely?
Who knows PTF. Boards do some weird things. Rumour was that they were getting Ole so maybe he had second thoughts.
Oh man, check Peach's twitter now, seems the Saints media team have got hold of his laptop please log in to view this image
In response to our recent results, on paper they aren't too bad, but considering our joys of last season this is a bit of a bump back down to earth. We are drawing far too many, with gaping chances to win games but not taking them. Sessegnon/Shane Long particularly are wasteful up front for us. Against you, we really should have seen it through, and got the point. Against Chelsea and arsenal, bar some poor refereeing, we should've won both games. It's acceptable as a one off, not good enough though when it is persistently happening. I think we were right to let go of Clarke, but for a club that's prided itself on organization with managerial appointments, waiting 4 weeks and still having no clue is not good enough. We have Keith Downing as the caretaker, who CLEARLY doesn't want the job, and is now in a position where he is forced into it. It doesn't rub off well on the players. Our squad is good enough for top 10, but we need to stop this headless chicken mentality in the gods above at the hawthorns. I believe we'll be ok, but we need to win more games, and stop these tedious draws, simple as.
I certainly don't think you will go down but you do look a bit lightweight up front. Difficult to bring in any new blood with no manager in place.
Like the bit where David was putting Boruc on the bench and MP stepped in and said no he might play or he might not. Mauricio is getting above himself...daring to question David's team selection
