Club Statement: Shane Long Contrary to reports in the media this morning, the Club confirms that it has not reached any agreement with West Bromwich Albion over the transfer of striker Shane Long, and as such will not be conducting a medical with the player today.
Hope we can see this is completed this time, still need a genuine number nine who can lead the line and find the back of the net though.I am sure Brucie is doing all he can to sign a genuine striker and hold on to Jake for the rest of the season. I have read that we have a budget of £11million for transfers, assuming Long would cost roughly £5-£6 million do we spend the rest on a striker or try to make Jakes move permanent.I would go for the latter option if it was possible, the way he is playing his value will only increase as the season goes on.
How is it 'very clever'? A few choice non commital words arent very clever. I think it's very strange. What have we possibly gained by releasing the statement? We have never to my recollection issued statements on rumours in the media regarding transfers of other club's players nor is it a practice undertaken by many other clubs. I do not see a single reason to do this.
Davies lives inNorth Newbald, Fryatt in the West Midlands, I believe Bruce jnr still lives in Leeds and I've no idea about Aluko, but he does seem to be in Brum quite a lot. We know the Fletcher bid story was bollocks, so half the article is made up, not too much of a stretch to assume the other half is too.
All this statement says to me is we might be having him for a medical tomorrow or some other day soon. Just not today. This has simply confirmed interest if anything. By not commenting, as is the complete norm in this situation, you dont add to the story. I dont recall seeing a formal statement for Steven Fletcher appear on the website and social media and as he cost £12m recently I'd say that raises expectations more. All it would take is the complete norm of Bruce to field questions in today's presser and give the standard "Shane is a good player and if he's available of course we'd be interested but no, he's not having a medical today". A formal statement is just very, very odd. Id go as far as to say unprecedented.
Fryatt isn't in the west mids, he's just down the road from me unless he's moved again since the summer. I know two different people who did work for him when he was moving in. Apparently he's a proper full of himself arrogant ****er and all.
I saw Aluko on Chants Ave the other week in his Range Rover. He was driving past Sewells garage and was heading towards Spring Bank. I'd say based on the above it's pretty obvious he lives in Bimingham.
The HDM reported it was the West Midlands he was moving back to and someone on here lives near him, I can't remember who, might be someone of the Leicester board.
