Well that's what the commentators and the BBC or ITV guys say it never was so I'd like to ask a couple of questions. Does Cleverley play the ball? (A=no) Does Cleverley play the man? (A=Yes) Was the contact shoulder to shoulder? (A=no) - remember this is the only permitted contact when not playing the ball in football Does that, therefore, mean it is a fair challenge? I'd just like to know as turning your hips into someone us a foul in my book On the downside, regardless of how ****e marriner was last night (and how he didn't send Rafael off I still have no idea) we are going to get screwed by the ref at OT. Guarantee Januzaj will take a dive in the box to get a pen
I just said the same thing about the penalty on the Moyes thread. It's like saying if you only touch the ball with a bit of your hand, it's not handball.
I don't think it matters Marcus, it's been given. Regardless of what it looks like in slow-mo we could argue til we're blue in the face but the fact is it looked like a certain penalty in real time and that's all the ref and linesman can go off. I have no complaints about the penalty. I also think Rafael would have been sent off if Borini didn't react like he'd been shot, he had his toe stood on and a simple collapse and shout would have done it, what he did was ridiculous and typically Italian.
Bollocks - he'd not have been sent off at all - he could easily have caused injury (and, by the way, Stephane Sessegnon got sent off for exactly the same thing last season - 3 match ban). What he did was far worse than Altidore's yellow card which was for next to nothing. Moyes' whinging on will put a lot of pressure on the officials but Fergie was feared by a lot - Moyes seems to be a bit of a lauging stock. OK so you should have had a pen against Spurs but Ashley Young has brought that on himself by diving around. Same as a lot of people said about Suarez
I thought it was a definite foul by Cleverley (even my girlfriend agreed and she's a Geordie who claims to have barely any concept of what those round 'football' things are), but I don't know if it was in the box or not. As for the foul on Borini, it looked accidental to me but Rafael is a dirty git so he probably did mean it. I didn't like Borini's reaction I don't think it helped his case.
I've had a pallet of 60 minute fire doors dropped on my foot before, about the weight of 18 Rafael's, thought I was gonna lose my foot but didn't act like Borini. You've got your opinion, I've got mine, neither are fact. I've not moaned about the pen vs Spurs, Young was inevitably going to be the victim of this sooner or later after all of his theatrics in the past. Borini tried to get Rafael sent off and failed in my opinion, if Borini reacted like that playing for Newcastle and it was Cattermole that made the challenge you'd be saying the same. He's a bindipper mate, so I'm not going to give the guy any credit when he jumps around like he's just stepped on a land mine. If it hurt that bad why jump 6 feet in the air? I've had studs all over my toes on a Sunday by huge fat knackers who weigh twice what I do and I've never done a Fosbury Flop and rolled around on the floor like a 5 year old girl.
Rafael took a blatant dive in the first half and got a free-kick for it. Was it a foul? Yes, Was it a yellow? Yes, so regardless of Borini's reaction, it was a yellow card - if it had been Cattermole on a yellow and he'd done the same to Rafael and Rafael had done what Borini did you'd be saying the same thing I am. It's a red card. If Cattermole wasthat stupid 4 or 5 minutes after getting his yellow then he would've been sent off because it was a yellow card offence - he was nowhere near the ball Terry. Had it been anyone but Borini then chances are you wouldn't care - but I guess you're a little pissed that they're so much better than your lot this season eh? He's Italian by the way - not Liverpudlian. Regardless of play acting (Januzaj tried it a few times as well), it was a yellow card offence for any of our players and a lot worse than Altidore's yellow when you compare 2 challenges in the same match - that (the last part) is not opinion it's a simple fact. it was actually worse than most yellows shown on Tuesday
First bit in bold - yes, I know it was a yellow card mate, I never said it wasn't a booking but it's my opinion that Borini's reaction made it look ridiculous to the point where it was comical. 2nd bit in bold - no, I wouldn't be saying the same thing, I'd be ashamed that Rafael made a meal out of the challenge and looked like a pathetic wimp and a cheat, just like I condemn Ashley Young for his diving I would do the same in this case, I'd expect a free kick but certainly not a red card! You seem to think that I think it wasn't a yellow card pal, that's your whole argument, I've never said it wasn't a yellow card all I've said is Borini's impression of a pissed up Tom Daley stopped the ref from taking it seriously. As for Liverpool, are they actually doing that much better? Would you swap a 5 point gap for a cup semi-final and knockout stages of the champions league with 18 games to go in the league? By their own standards they're doing a lot better than usual, but until May we won't know for certain if they've had a better season. They probably will finish above us, then it will annoy me yeah, but I'm not bothered right now we've got bigger issues than how them lot are doing.
Officials have yet to be appointed. Should probably wait and see that before we can assess if we're going to get screwed, however, officials seem to be revelling in the fact they're no longer under Fergie's spell.
Everyone cried like big ****ing babies when Marriner was appointed... Hate nothing more than seeing fellow supporters blaming everything on the referees. We are where we are because we have been ****.
Mariner gave is absolutely nowt in that game, and my opinion on his appointment has not changed..I also don't think we are anywhere near as **** as our league position suggests, and refereeing decisions have had a big part to play in where we are..
Would interesting to see how many points officials have cost us. I bet they've cost us a few, but not enough to have taken us out of danger. That's down to dreadful defending early season and the inability to create chances all season long. Marriner does hate us like. but don't think that's the case with the rest of them. I just think the standard in this league is poor. Man U are definitely getting **** on. I love it.
