The usual suspects, the fail and metro are saying Lamela wants out with apparent quotes from his father saying he isn't happy. Although I would be surprised if he is happy so great journalism there.

Baldini has potentially helped us waste 58 million on Lamela and Soldado, although Soldado there is still some hope for this season. Lamela the longer he's not featuring, the harder it will be to adapt.

58 million on two players who struggle to adapt, we could bump that up to 65 million but SOS is getting stick for suggesting Fletcher as a good signing so we can give Chadli more time to prove himself!

Any chance of us getting our money back under the terms of the guarantee? Surely if we paid with a credit card!

Like I said, it took a beating <laugh>

Nope, not having it, I think he'll be a decent 3rd choice striker. :D

Of the strikers we've been linked with from what I've seen, they are as follows:

    Long
    Fletcher
    Vucinic
    Quagliarella
    Hernandez
    Dzeko

Out of all of them on a realistic basis, I'd honestly take Fletcher. Prem proven, scores goals at **** clubs and would be desperate to prove himself at a "bigger club".

Long at £2m would represent great value for money.

While Vucinic and Quagliarella are more glamorous names, after the money we've forked out on foreign imports who thus far, for the most part have failed to impress, I don't want to risk any more foreigners to come in that'd likely need an adapting period again.

Hernandez and Dzeko are "no-chancers" in my opinion. Unless Utd/ City would be willing to do a straight swap for one of them for Soldado, I think that'd be the only viable option as both teams would want a replacement should they get rid of their player.

Fletcher for Spurs!!! I'm gonna get this campaigning somehow <laugh>

But joking aside, is there really many better alternatives for a back good back up striker to replace Defoe if moves to Toronto? If so, who?

I was serious about Harry Kane. My view in general about players is that there is not so much between them as people think. Obviously the best few stand out but after that it is very hard to tell who is better and on an objective measurement (if there was one) they would all come out about the same. This is quite normal in the distribution of skills for any sort of sport or business. The thing that Harry Kane needs more than anything else is game time. If we could sign another one of the top 25 strikers in the world (I think we've theoretically already got two of them in Adebayor and Soldado) then he would be a better bet than Kane, but someone in the next 100 is really very unlikely to be any better and will stop us finding out whether Kane is good or not.

Don't get me wrong I like Kane, I've always felt he was a good prospect and have likened him to Keano in the past in terms of how he can either lead the line or play a bit behind the main striker as he's got a great work ethic. Me personally, I'd be willing to use him as back up if Defoe goes but I'm just worried that if we do rely on him and he's unable to produce, then fans will jump on his and Levy's back. I think realistically, Kane could do with a loan move to a Prem side (but one that'll play him unlike Norwich!) like we've done with Caulker/ Walker in the past.

Harry Kane will be 21 in the summer. He should be capable of playing a game or 2 in the premierleague if he is good enough by now.
Most fans understand he is young and i don't think they'd get on his back.
How much has Defoe been playing recently? Not that much, its been Soldado and Ade (and Kane vs Utd for example). Ade and Soldado could play up on their own too as an option if there are injuries. I don't see the harm in letting Defoe go and letting Kane have his duties til the summer at least.

I feel for SoS, this is beginning to look like when I said Danny Graham would be a decent January signing a few years back <laugh>

We're being linked to Michael Bradley of Roma, another midfielder. wtf?

Ohh, I get it. - Dempsey has gone and Brad's not got long left, so lets get another American in as a money spinner. One day we'll actually consider football, as well as money<doh>

Obika has gone to Brighton on a 3 month loan deal. That's a good move for him.

Interestingly, Bolton sent their assistant manager Lennie Lawrence to our training ground yesterday to look at Obika. No idea if they followed their interest up though.

latest on the Defoe deal is that apparently it's happening on Jan 13th and there's the possibility of an immediate loan to west ham.

    http://metro.co.uk/2014/01/08/etien...-tottenham-to-rafael-benitezs-napoli-4254268/

Tottenham’s Etienne Capoue has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane – just five months after arriving from Toulouse.

Rafael Benitez has apparently turned his attentions to the Spurs man after his efforts to bolster his Napoli midfield with Radja Nainggolan were scuppered when he signed for Roma.

On the face of it, it seems unlikely Spurs will part with the £7million summer signing, especially as he has provided cruciual cover at the centre of defence when injuries have hit.

And although Capoue seems to have slipped down the pecking order under new Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood, he did start the New Year’s Day win at Manchester United.

Toronto are definitely signing someone on the 13th, as they've put up a clip on their website that hints at it. It's A Bloody Big Deal, apparently.

The only reason that I might give the Capoue to Napoli deal any sort of consideration is that Sherwood clearly doesn't appear to rate him and he does rate Livermore.
Sell one, recall the other? Sounds unlikely, but who knows?

Better to sit Sherwood down and inform him of this obvious error. Livermore is from the same school as Michael Brown, Dean Marney and Jamie O'Hara - runs around a lot, but you need more to your game than that.

Or maybe Mr Capoue has broken a couple of Sherwood's new rules....

Ah. Does that mean we'll be loaning him out to QPR?

I reckon Livermore to Hull will be a permanent deal this month. If i was him, I'd stay there. He's playing well every week, he's loved by the fans and he's playing alongside his best mate. why come back, when there's no guarantee of playing?

    Selling Capoue would be bizarre.
