http://www.seagulls.co.uk/news/article/liam-bridcutt-update-1282769.aspx PUBLISHED 16:31 8th January 2014 Further to reports in todayâs media, Brighton & Hove Albion can confirm that a transfer request from Liam Bridcutt was received yesterday afternoon and subsequently has been rejected by the club. At this stage the club does not wish to make any further comment on this matter. Strange trying to keep an unsettled player at a club mind...
Shame on then for stunting the lads ambition. Fair do's if they were in the premiership but they're not, they need to accept that players will out grow them in the championship and they shouldn't stand in their way.
Brighton know the transfer window is open all month. I have a feeling that it's a ploy to hold on to him for longer. As we become more desperate, we will probably end up paying more.
Lots of clubs are. But it's not turning down an offer, it's a blatant block to keep a talented player who ambition and quality has out grown his own club's, even if if they do carry ambition. No problem in them driving the price up or even pricing us out of a move, but they're telling him personally point blank he can't continue his promising career elsewhere. I think it's harsh myself and they've shot themselves in the foot as a lack of ethical empathy for one of their own employee will probably be met with an unethical attitude from the player just like we've seen time and time again with this situation. Only Brighton will suffer here. I mean, they're sniffing about the playoffs but at present they can't guaranty or offer him anything more than championship football by keeping him.
http://www.seagulls.co.uk/news/article/liam-bridcutt-update-1282769.aspx Nothing wrong with a selling club looking to maximise its value but I think as they know we really want and need the lad we are going to have to up our offer to above what he is worth to get him. I have no doubts they will sell at the right price and its obvious the lad wants to come by putting in a transfer request but time isn't our friend right now. However, got a huge feeling this may go all the way till the midnight hour on the 31st this one like.
been looking into this a bit tonight, depends on his contract, by the sounds of it there is no mutual notice period in it, however there is usually a buy out clause, if thats the case (which it seems it is) then we may have to up our bid to cover this cost, think it takes the offer to somewhere near £4m than £2.5m. Reckon thats what will happen if gus wants his man sooner rather than later, could be completely wrong of course but that is how it looks to me
His contract is up this summer. They either take money now or he goes for zip in 5 months time. I think we should just sit on this one and let Brighton sweat it out. The other lad Buckley is injured anyway right now.
well that blows my theory out of the water then i read he had three years brighton are playing with fire here then
Agreed. If he can go this summer, they're being a bit ballsy. Yet he is probably central to their promotion push which is worth to them more than we could pay them. All depends how hard he throws his toys out of the pram.....
