http://www.caughtoffside.com/2013/12/08/exclusive-man-united-ready-to-re-appoint-sir-alex-ferguson-as-old-trafford-boss/ Not really a surprise considering how absolutely ****e ManUre have been under the 'management' of "The Chosen One", David Moyes. Do you welcome this return? Should Moyes have been given more time to take the Red Devils down to hell? (the SkyBet Championship)
I would say bollocks, but he and Charlton's reaction post game yesterday was worrying for Moyes. Plus he's hanging round like a bad smell since retiring.
Love sir Alex but he finished at the right time leaving the worst man utd team that he has ever managed. He knew it was the right time to get out and i don't blame him for that but he was the one who chose moyes as his successor so he should shoulder some of the blame. Its about time that gigs retired now and just do coaching at utd and have a clear out of players that are not up to the standard expected at a world class team. The point is thats its not all moyes fault as he inherited a man utd side that is past its sell by date as regards to the players in the squad, the only thing to do now is keep moyes as he is a good manager and have a massive clear out and recruit talented younger players that can step up to the mark.....dont fall into the trap of making Moyes the scape goat as any other manager would be in the same situation..
Genuine question...do you think it has helped having Fergie sitting up in the stands and still being around the club? Do you not think the new manager has suffered from that pressure or would he have been even worse off without his guidance (as I presume Moyes communicates with him on occassion)?
Honest answer? if Moyes isnt big enough to cope with fergie in the stands then hes in the wrong job. Its as simple as that. Its not as if fergie is there with a megaphone going Moooooooooooyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssssssssss, ohhhhhhhhhhh Mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssssss then pretending he never said anything when Moyes looks up.
If the fans are singing Fergies name etc then he shouldn't be there as it would add pressure but as things stand SAF sitting in the stands on match days should make absolutey no difference whatsoever
Fergie is just getting Moyes back for their touchline argument a few years back, and poor Moyes fell for it
Fair enough but I think you've missed the point a tad....him being there (at the club) means the man who replaced him was always going to be stuck in the shadow? It might not make any difference but don't you think it all adds to the confusion as to who really is in charge etc The players especially might well be finding it more difficult to adapt to a new regime when they are still seeing the head of the old regime stalking the corridors of power. Let me rephrase the question a bit.....do you think you'd be better off in the long run (whether Moyes is there or not) if Fergie took some time away from the club now?
Those big enough would step out from his shadow. Those who are not would crumble. A number of managers could have worked with Fergie sat on their ****ing lap whispering sweet nothings into their ear.
Who the hell is big enough not to be in Fergies shadow though??? I accept your point that maybe Moyes needs to be stronger and I agree with you that Moyes needs to show that he has some kind of vision of his own but I also think it's a tad naive to suggest it would be easy for any man to follow Fergie and just slide comfortably into the chair with little change results wise. A quarter of a century as manager is unprecedented in a top job and I can't help feeling you're underestimating how tough it was always going to be for whoever came in after that. Just as an example Sir Bob for me is on a par with Shanks as a manager but would he have seen so much success if Shanks hadn't been stopped from turning up at training after he left? Do the players not need to know that the last fella has gone and no matter how much you loved him he ain't coming back?
I wonder who.... As in the summer and it has never changed, the right choice was Mourinho. Hes Fergie mk2.
Short term thinking again UIR...the desire for instant success and damn the consequences. He wishes he was Fergie mk2 and yet he hardly manages to keep a job a few years never mind two and a half decades. Ever ask yourself why that is? He's George Graham mk2 at best Successful but sooooo very dull..... ....and you moan about the style of footy under Moyes Maureen's style of footy is loved only by insomniacs zzzzzzzzzzzzzz Ps...don't bother giving me all the Real scored x amount of goals drivel....we both know that was down to the magic of one player.
Short term how? Hes been managing for what? 13 years or so? ( not checked ). Some portugese side - moved to bigger job Porto - moved to bigger job Chelsea - sacked Inter - moved to bigger club Madrid - wasnt a yes man for the club Chelsea - stop gap Fergie in his first 12 years East Sterling - moved on to bigger things St Mirren - Sacked Aberdeen - 8 season. Now had Chelsea not sacked Mourinho I suspect he would have remained there for many more years. Its not all that different.
A young ferguson was different to Maureen. He had a hard time in the first years at United before he had any success. Anyway why wish you had him now???
Not really. Both Fergie and Mourinho employ the 'us against them' mentality. Mourinho admits he models himself on Fergie. When hes manager he is the manager, he rules all. Should someone try and question this rule he will get rid quickly. Both Fergie and Mourinho have alienated big players for the clubs they have managed. With both you always know who the boss is, the opposition know that the team they are facing are not going to lie down and die for you, to win means you are going to have to play the game of your life. Would Fergie have poked a manager in the eye? He would have probably floored them.
