Where on earth is marveaux? He's not on the physioroom list? Is he injured? How come he's just vanished from sight much like Jonas?

Why does Obertan get in ahead of him? I gather Jonas had some family issue and is injured but Marveaux? Not a word. There are two players on our books that could have been used to mix it up at least as subs recently and they've just gone awol.

Best rumour of the day is Obertan to Evian. I always wondered whether Gabby had any bottle, heading to the right place it seems.

Personally, I think we need to refresh a lot of the squad. Marv, Ben Arfa, Jonas, Obertan, Gosling, Shola, Cisse. That's a lot of players we could do with replacing.

Be glad to see the back of Obertan, absolutely clueless. Couldn't understand how he got back into the squad after walking out in the huff cause he wasn't picked.
Marveaux face obviously doesn't fit and think he'll also be initially loaned out in next week or so.

I think it is a good time to play Man City.
They are still wobbly on the road.
Hopeful of a draw at least.
    We shall see.

Truth to tell, the way we've been playing of late there's only one result that it can be, and it isn't a good one.

I normally have a spring in my step but no this week. Mind you... I lost that spring in my step in October 1996 on the way to watch the Toon play Man Utd....... and there were 5 reasons I was happy that year.... someone should make a username out of one of the scorers........

    From nufc.com.

    Manchester City (h)

Manuel Pellegrini brings his City side to Tyneside for the second time in three months on Sunday, having won a League Cup meeting here last October thanks to a pair of extra time strikes.

Kick-off is at 2.05pm and the game is televised live on Sky Sports. Tickets are on public sale now.

City arrive at SJP bidding for a tenth successive victory against Newcastle in all competitions, while it's fifteen games since United last won one - that a 1-0 home success in the Premier League back in September 2005.

No team has beaten City since their last visit to the region, a 0-1 loss at the mackems. Since then, they've won twelve times and drawn twice, the latest being a 6-0 trouncing of West Ham in the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final at the Etihad on Wednesday evening.

Squad: Mathieu Debuchy is suspended and Fabricio Coloccini unavailable due to a knee problem, while the achilles injury that kept Yohan Cabaye out of the FA Cup tie against Cardiff City makes him a doubt for this game. Tim Krul is expected to return between the posts.

Paddy Power match betting is online here

    Newcastle to win @ 15/4

(NB: quoted odds were accurate at the time of writing, but subject to fluctuation - click on the link above to display current live odds).

MCFC: Stevan Jovetic, Martin Demichelis and Micah Richards are all set to return from injury but Sergio Aguero is out Jack Rodwell and Jesus Navas are both doubtful.

Away from home this season, City's record is actually poorer than Newcastle's - taking 14 points from four victories and two draws (United have 15 from five wins).

Successes came at West Ham, West Brom, Fulham and Swansea, draws were recorded at both Stoke and Southampton and defeats were suffered at Cardiff, Aston Villa, Chelsea and the mackems.

Referee: Mike Jones - third outing for the Chester-based whistle in Toon games this season, following on from the 2-0 home win over Leeds United in the Capital One Cup and the more recent 1-1 home draw with Southampton.

In the words-ish of Bill Shankly .. have a feeling we will be lucky to get nil this game, (specially after the last gutless performances)

    (hoping for a draw, mind)

I think we'll put up a bit of a fight but not get a break and end up losing by the same scoreline as we did in the league cup.

Would be nice if we could just score a bloody goal against them, mind.
