HARRY Redknapp has claimed Newcastle United’s on-loan forward Loic Remy is worth £16m.

Remy has scored 10 goals so far this season.

And Redknapp, manager of his parent club Queens Park Rangers, has claimed he would sell the 27-year-old for “£15m or £16m” if it was up to him.

It is unclear Newcastle negotiated a fee when they took him on a season-long loan last summer.

United manager Alan Pardew has previous stated that any permanent deal for Remy would be “complicated”.

It has been reported that the France international has a £8m buy-out clause in his Loftus Road contract. That was the fee QPR paid Olympique Marseille paid for Remy in January.

Redknapp has again insisted he doesn’t know if there is a proposed deal in place between Newcastle and his club.

“I don’t know what the deal is,” said Redknapp. “You’d think they’d want to snap him up, wouldn’t you?

“If they don’t then someone else will.

“For what we got him for, he’s probably worth double that now. He’s scored goals in the Premier League again this year.”

QPR are attempting to win promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Asked about Remy’s value to them should they go up, Redknapp went on: “That’s all ifs and buts.

“You’ve got to get there first, and if someone came and offered £15m or £16m for him, I’d sell him if it was my choice. But it’s not, it’s down to the chairman.”

Remy signed a lucrative contract with QPR when he chose them over United at the 11th hour.

And his personal terms could be as big an obstacle as any fee for Newcastle.

The club operates a strict wage structure, with captain Fabricio Coloccini the highest earner at St James’s Park.

I can't see him staying. We are going to have competition with deeper pockets. If he wanted to stay because he was guaranteed first team football and liked it here we might have a chance but at the end of the day money talks.

Harry Redknapp is one of those people who very rarely says what he means. He's usually sticking his grubby fingers into somebody else's business to try and manipulate a situation to suit himself (and I mean himself hot his football club). Anything he says isn't worth paying too much attention to. Horrible man.

Translated - "As part of the deal to bring my old mucker Loic here, I passed these geezers a little brown envelope. When he moves I get a bigger brown envelope back. Lovely jubbly."

    Allegedly................

Think saggy chops is just a weasel. I see he's touting himself for the West Ham job even though Big Sam is still in position. Nothing more than a wind bag and cheat.

Cant see deal happening, seems Remy is stalling to see if bigger club comes in.

Wouldnt spend anymore than £10M on him

Get cheaper players whose contacts about to expire

Rosie would probably be happier going back to West Ham.

Although I'm not a fan of 'arry (and struggle to see how he is still employed in the business after all the tax and 'back-hander' issues that came out) I think it's hard to argue Remy is worth less than £12m or so. Look at other strikers around who have been bought in the last few years like Borini (£11m), Fletcher (£12m+), Cisse (£11m), Osvaldo (£13m), Wolfswinkel (£10m+), etc.

I'd pick Remy over all of those to be honest so he probably is worth a few million more than most of those.

Only issue here is that all of the names listed were vastly over priced.

Redknapp still banging on about remy price going up by the day in today's papers clearly trying to force our hand so it will fund his spending at q.p.r in the hope of getting them up,trouble is I can't see remy staying here he's not exactly waxing lyrical about us is he

Remy is clearly angling for a big move and its the nature of a loan that the player can keep you hanging. I think he'll get that move if we move him out left again as he will be back amongst the goals.

To me as he has already shown Remy will take the pay packet first.

All about money now, not so much playing for the shirt.

As long as he continues to put the shirt in, if he goes I'll hank him for his service and we can move on.

Talk up Remy's transfer fee to double the price, then laugh hysterically as Rosie bounds off to the Cayman Islands with the commission tucked into her collar...

Not done bad for a fella who maintains he can't read or write eh?

Melty face will come back at the end of the season with some bollox comments about him being worth £20m now that he has scored 25 goals for us.

Maybe he's reckoning £1m per goal scored.

Horrible little parasite (Redknapp), I can't bare the bloke.

I can't wait for a time in the future where Allardyce, Bruce, Redknapp, Curbs, Souness and Hoddle are no longer contenders for anything other than studio based punditry, and even then I'll still be sick of the sight of them !

be interesting this one .. I like remy ..but after seeing him for a bit now ... is he really that good ..umm .plenty better that's for sure ..I like forwards that can beat a man ..with skill .and pace .. I don't think remy is that good of a goalscorer either.. may be wrong like but ..not worth panic money buying ..I wont lose any sleep if he moved on as long as we get another couple of forwards.
