I hope he goes on another run of not losing (not winning either) 3 or 4 games, that way, they think they've turned all those corners we've been turning for the last 20+ years and hopefully keep him in the job a bit longer..
Worst thing they could have done is appoint Moyes, the worst thing they could do for the rest of the league is to sack him!

    Total garbage that.

We were perennial relegation candidates when he arrived, we were consistently challenging for Europe every year when he left & all on a net transfer budget of £10m in 11 years.

No other manager in the league consistently out performed him on anything like a similar budget. He always played in a way that got the best out of the squad he had available, in his latter days our play was much different to what it was when he first took over.

That said, he was never the man for United & he'd probably over stayed what was healthy at Goodison, but to say he's a ****e manager is utter crap.

he is a good manager for building a foundation like he did at Everton, but utd had that already setup, why they chose him no idea, but its all good :)

would have thought a Laudrup type would have been more for them, oh well.

So utd signed a banker then?

It wasn't a dig at you as such, just look at the difference to you under Martinez. Before, you and Newcastle were battling with Stoke as to who hoofs it more, now you play good football and are reaping the rewards.

As an actual man manager and tactician, including his style of play and success (or complete lack of), imo he is sh!t.

Given enough time he'd get it right there imo. However, he was never going to get the time needed to build his own side at United & should have simply carried on with what they had & evolved it.

His fatal mistake was doing a Souness & clearing out Fergies backroom rather than keeping them on until he'd fully integrated & slowly changing it over time.

He's shown what a massive ego he has & tbh I'm quite pleased that it's gone pear shaped for him, as he treated us with disdain in the manner of his departure & his behaviour since.

    So would anyone.

He acted like a complete prick and had access to Fellaini's contract and still ended up paying more than the release clause <laugh>

true took fergie 5 yrs to get it right, cant see Moyes getting that amount of time, esp now days with the money from CL football, also the value of the club lol.

they fall out the top 4 he is a gonner, if he can keep them in the top 4 whilst rebuilding he may get time.

I think they will keep him on this season even if he doesn't get champions league. Next season will tell though.

As soon as it's mathematically impossible for him to get CL they will start searching for replacements

He reminds me of Hodgson. Very good for a club that is perennial underdogs and able to set up a side that the big teams find hard to best, much like Hodgson did at west brom. However our him in charge of a team that is expected to win every game and he struggles.

True, but Fergie took over a struggling club that hadn't had a sniff of the league for donkey's, whereas Moyes has taken over at a club on a twenty year high and a team that walked the PL last season.
I agree with Tobes that he should have gone for the integration and evolution route, rather than the revolution approach.
I still think it proves that Fergie got performances out of players that others can't.

Unlike other managers of top Prem teams Moyes doesn't have a style or brand of football that he wants his team to play, or even seem to be able to work out what he wants that to be. Look around, Wenger, Mourinho, Laudrup, Martinez, our Brendan, even Sherwood at Spurs, you can associate a style of play with them. Mostly modern attacking, free flowing and dynamic. The players know what the manager wants, the fans know and come to expect that and the team gets some momentum. The managers themselves reflect this in their approach off the pitch - to the media, training, the transfer market.

With Moyes and Utd, it's just completely unclear, there's no plan, no sense of things moving forward and modernising, they've tried to turn him into Fergie Mk II, an imitation of a now ageing man who has had unparalleled success but whose age meant that he was falling out of touch with the direction of the game. The failure to sign a much needed CM in so many seasons is evidence of this. With Ferguson so much of his recent success, especially the title last season, was down to experience and aura. That's gone now, although remains in spectral form when he's sat up in the director's box.

N.B. I haven't included Pellegrini in there... I think he has similar problems as Moyes actually, obviously the problem isn't as acute (plus City are in a position of growth not decline) and he's trying to work out the best tactics and starting eleven and has a phenomenal squad, essentially two world class first teams, to work with, so it doesn't matter, the talent alone is enough to get the win.

    Without doubt saint.

The worst thing that's happened to Moyes & United during their testing period, is the 4 home defeats out of 6 of late.

Ferguson made OT a fortress & most teams were as good as beaten before they even got onto the pitch, as he'd created a club that used to win at home, they'd go behind & yet you'd still expect them to come back & win - more importantly, so did their opposition....

Their recent home form is now smashing that aura of invincibility to pieces, sides are now starting to go there & fancy their chances of getting something, as opposed to thinking that if they left with a narrow defeat they'd done Ok.....

Souness for all his faults, never cleared out the backroom staff. He got rid of the Boot Room.
