Apparently offered just £750K for Wes. Pouring more fuel on an already inflamed situation. The club have refused to reply to them. Wes looks like being here until July at least.
£750k wow, that is a joke. A bid like that makes me realise how gutted leeds fans must have been when we got Howson for £750k
Lamberts a cheeky bastard ! One minute in the presages saying these no. 10 strikers are hard to find, and when you do find one they cost a fortune !! Then he offers that !!!
What he is doing is very clever. He has tested the water and it is looking like Wes is interested in a move so Lambert is hoping he puts in a transfer request. This way we will have a player who wants to leave so we will almost be forced into accepting this offer or a low offer.
surely every club does the same, put in low bids first. we did it with Hooper. the difference is we don't know if wes wanted to leave, hooper did. i really hope we keep him and keep him happy
If Wes or any player wants to leave, there is no point in keeping them. What you must do though,is get market value when you sell. If Holty was worth £4m,Wes is also .
I'd take £2million. If Hughton isn't going to play him when the other midfielders are fit and he wants to leave, let him go.
It's perfectly possible (and very likely) that the reason he reportedly wants to leave is because Hughton doesn't play him enough. No player is ever bigger than the club but if that is the catalyst that forces the issue with Wes, then CH will have the mother of all albatrosses hanging round his neck
As much as I love Wes and think he has been an absolutely superb player for us, if it was any other club than Villa I reckon I'd take £2 million for him if he's unhappy as I think that's good money for a player who turns 32 this season and surely has his best days behind him. However as it is Villa then you can stick a nought after the 2 - offer us £20 million and he's yours Lambert
The thick plottens, according to RTE Irish Sport sources http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/english/2014/0108/496525-hoolahan-asks-norwich-for-a-transfer/?
Telegraph as well http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-Villa-after-handing-in-transfer-request.html Don't like the sound of this part - doesn't sound like Wes to me "Hoolahan has also told his Norwich team-mates he will never play for the club again and is desperate to rejoin Lambert in the Midlands"
Bit of hypocrisy creeping in here perhaps. Lambert is only doing to us what he and McNally did to other clubs when he was here much to our delight at the time.
