Think we should put in a bid for Januzai this summer, if not this month. Too good to be stuck in a middle-of-the-table side.
Do think Johnson will go in the summer. Brendan either earlier this season or last that he couldn't believe how much Johnson was on. That would be one of the last crazy earners gone apart from gerrard and Suarez. Not sure what Aggers and skertls wages are.
Think Gerrez has said it a few times, but Johnson, Agger & Skrtel will all be out of the club within another couple of years. Only players that are part of the previous era. Can add Lucas to that as well if he doesn't step up his game, but he's mid 20's so should be entering him prime shortly so may stay a few more years.
Has Kelly ever player a whole game centre back for us? He's been a right back ever since he started playing first team football and in my opinion is a lot more solid defensively than both Enrique and Johnson, likewise for Wisdom. Call me strange but I've always been a fan of defenders who are good at defending. Johnson is good going forward, although hasn't contributed a lot this season and he's still responsible for a lot of goals being conceded
Yep, said this many times. I exclude Lucas and Gerrard from the previous era category. Lucas because of the way Brod spoke about him on Being Liverpool and the fact we'd need to buy two or three in before we could release him. Gerrard because he is part of the last three or four era's, not just the last.
They've both played in the RCB role when we've had a back three. Don't think either have played centrally in a back four, certainly not a competitive game.
Has Kelly played many full games at RB? Probably not because he picks up a lot of niggly injuries. Part of the reason could be is because he's a 6ft+ centre back who's body isn't built to make marauding runs down the wing. His best position in the youth teams and reserves was always CB, same with Wisdom but like Carragher I think young CB (Jones, Smalling are another 2) get put into full back areas so they can learn the game without as much pressure as playing CB brings. I've no doubt that be it for us or if they move on, both of those will end up playing CB when they get mid 20's and rightly so. Most full backs these days are converted wingers because you need to be as good going forward as you are defensively. Yes I love my defenders to be able to defend, but if they aren't able to offer width and an attacking threat then you cut yourself short going forward.
I have to say that biscan is right. the old days of CBs appearing at full back are gone IMO. the full back role these days requires a serious amount of running.. its only dinosaurs like pulis and (ha ha) ferguson who try it.. even moyes at everton had two real full backs in the end. Kelly is not an RB, not a modern one, he should switch to CB but he;s not going to get a game there for is.
You make it sound like it's the first time ever Richard's is different in that he is much more of an athlete so allows him to get up and down a lot more. Also to call him our best when fit is a bit much, he hasn't been top quality for about 4 years when he first burst onto the scene. Potentially very good, currently not so good.
Which is why I said went fit. Whenever he's been 100% he has looked far better than anything else we have IMO
So he's not been fit for 4 years? He's played games since he broke into the City & England squad when he was about 19 and he's never captured the same form he showed then.
