I see Adam used like this...... - Lucas - Gerrard - Adam or - Lucas - Gerrard - Mereiles Adam doesn't usually play deep so don't see him playing instead of Lucas. Spearing will also be cover and Shelvey loaned out, we need better cover for Lucas than Poulsen so think we will buy a DM or use Spearing as cover there aswell..
Good reply but the Agger Skrtel debate is way off the mark I suppose it's just because we know the players better. Agger when fit (which is a problem) is a world class player, skrtel is not.
1. adam is not worth 5 million.... simply put his contract is up and if some other team wants to pay it fine but we don't need to. 5mil with 12months to go, 8mil with 18months. 2. debating who goes where is moot until we see the full set of players and some clue as to kennys tactics. 3. for me agger is finished, if he plays 5 games in a row without injury is unusual... 10 is unheard of. skertl is to be frank average. We need a new cb to compete, someone much taller, stronger and in the mould of hyppia.

Why to sit on the bench all season? If Adam signed he would be a starter. He is a better player than Lucas in my eyes, can sit back in the middle and do the same job as Lucas but can spray passes all over the pitch.
Think you'd better go to Specsavers lad! Adam and Lucas are two totally different types of player. Adam can't tackle to save his life and to parody Shanks "when he does he fouls and/or gets injured"
If we play two centremids he'd have no chance at starting at all. Even in a three man midfield, Gerrard, Meireles, and Aqulilani are all significantly better in attack and all 3 of those + Lucas are better in defence.
How are Meireles and Aquilani better in attack than Adam? Do their stats show this? Adam, playing in a Blackpool team scored 14 goals last season, I read he touched the ball more than anybody bar Danny Murphy in the whole league last season. Imagine how he would do at a team with better players around him. His set pieces are a better threat than anything Aquilani or Meireles offer too.
That's just the point though. His set pieces are what got him the goals. He has 2 goals in open play to Meireles' 5. Plus you've seen Blackpool play, they like to attack, sometimes having up to 5 men at the top end during a match (a bank of 3 behind a front 2.) That being said, I think he'd be rotated in. A few starts here and there, and plenty of sub appearances. Although, who knows, he may outperform the others in training and get a regular starting berth.
what Suarez said. set pieces (which he rightly or wrongly wouldn't take for us) and penalties make up the lions share of Adam's game and he was the centre of everything at Blackpool. I think he's a good player and if we sold some players he would be good cover and depth. But as it stands, his arrival wouldn't be an improvement.
He's a deep lying play-maker that would give us another dimension in the squad.More variation. Due to Rafa having to weaken the squad to improve the team,we had two options in terms of style.It was either rigid or free-flowing,both worked both didn't. However with more player variation,we can be set up for different formations and styles and have an answer for any team we face.I felt there was some teams we didn't have an answer for.

(I say this 'cos it seems to have everyone stumped!)...but this is "creative thinking" from Kenny, Comolli, Clarke...for next season AND beyond. Henderson and Adam will be good acquisitions, I reckon.
I agree Spevin. AA has done nothing and was never a prem player. You don't need to be the most technically gifted to be a success in the prem. You just need to be clever enough to find space, look at Fwankie Lampard. Awful player, bags of goals. Adam knows the prem. I think he is a better player than AA and Meireles for the premier league. Could do the job Alonso did, freeing up Gerrard.
