She'd definitely help attract some African youth players <ok>

Was about to say that myself, do love Raheem, but Hazard is different gravy, and as much as I can't stand them, the Bluenoses have a decent one in Mirallas too!

Wouldn't call Hazard a winger, more of a wide Attacking midfielder. I know that sounds the same but he cuts in too much for a winger and think he'd prefer to play centrally behind the striker.
Mirallas is more of a wide forward. A 2nd striker that is being made to play wide by the formation. Add to that he is so inconsistent. He's had some brilliant games and then some where its almost not worth having him on the pitch AND he's really greedy.

True wingers are virtually non-existent now.

    True, they're all false 9s, 7 and 1/8ths nowadays <doh>
Just saying for all the inconsistencies of the others, Raheem isn't the best Wide/AMF in the prem (yet, hope he fulfils his potential).

In a 4-3-3 which is the fashion these days there is no room for a true winger par se. you need guys capable of getting in behind and making intelligent runs. sterling is profiting by making good runs in a good channel for him. between full backand cb and with that kind of pace and suarez pulling cbs with him it allows the kid to benefit.

However sterling is also trying to beat his full back as well which is positive.

The next step in his development is two fold. first the final ball and second consistency.

If he score more by being clam and placing it and greatly improves his delivery (as in a pass not a blind ball or poor placed ball) and he does that week in week out he will be undroppable.

long way to go but lets see. keep his head up but also be rested as well.

he still lacks an end product imo.....Not dissimilar to many other wingers but he has time. Really hope that they work like crazy and improve on his final ball/shooting/crossing over the next 12 months....still some way off where he needs to be but improvement is clear for all to see. Keep it up!!!

In school report terms. that sounds like a B for effort and C for attainment <laugh>

  10. I actually think Sterling's end product is getting better which is a very good sign considering he is still only nineteen years old. Still not good enough but it wil improve given time, training and experience.

yes when he was 15/16 i was looking at him in youth cup and thinking... yeah you can run but you never get your head up then one day he just stood out head and shoulders cos he did... i feel he's got it in him but he's got to add at senior level now. that means just being ruthless with a finish. don't hit the keeper put it between his legs, hit the target, find the man not put it behind the man and so forth.

it can come but he needs to do it without fear. you can't beat playing when a player like suarez is winning games and you can slot the odd goal eh? helps a lot

That to me is key for the younger players like Sterling who are so obviously "confidence players", to come into a team performing well where they know they can rely on those around them and not be feeling like all the pressure is on them. The only way Hareem will ever make it is if he's playing without having to think too much and he's playing without fear.

yeah.. it is always good to be on the up. It'd be good if henderson and coutinho would actually aim their shots for once, score a couple and then take the pressure off too.

I think Woy's been wubbing his hands at Raheem's form. He's improved so much, he had the ability but it seems Rodgers has schooled him proper in how to apply those skills. If the lad had better finishing he'd be almost definitely selected. I think he is smarter than Townsend who just runs like Forest and occasionally cuts inside for a shot, very predictable. Sterling has been making good runs, taking players on and beating them. Battling. The kid really has come on so much under Rodgers.

This kid is going to be something else in 2 or 3 years if all goes well without problems be them personal or injury.

I think they are both in that position where it will only take a couple more goals each to get them really flying....but the longer they go without then the more they think about every chance that comes their way.

i hope so .... i was hopeing that when henderson scored v spurs he'd settle down but he missed that one v hull where he made a great straight run and then just fired wide.

coutinho scored from a corner early as well recently but then proceeded to do the same shooting with the head down thing.

I think just a couple of goals will hopefully calm both enough to actually take their time and aim.

Sturridge coming back might take a bit of pressure off them although I suspect they are putting the pressure on themselves as much as anything.
