Spend the money on players we haven't got imo. Kev, Conolly and Taylor can do a job at left back. Let John have the position, he couldn't really do any better now he's been given a chance.
Lots of twitter talk about Diouf (hence the WOL story). He's out of contract I believe at the end of the season so the price would be right.
I think our scouts could spot the next Messi playing and the fact he hasn't played for Utd, Molde or preferably both would be a deal breaker....
Not fussed on this talk of us getting Nyland, Marshall has been on top form and is doing a great job, Lewis is good backup, so where does this new keeper fit in. Seems our heads are firmly turned to Norway, not all bad but hope we are looking elsewhere as well.
SBFF He has probably watched Marshall, has probably come to the conclusion, he is a very good shot stopper etc, however if you looked at Heaton and Marshall, Heaton (ex Man u) distribution was way ahead of Marshall's this will inevitably lead to Marshall's demise in the short to medium term. If you look at the top keepers in this division, very few of them boot the ball away cheaply. Marshall does every game.
Thats true Ronny, although I have noticed lately he does look for a short outlet to one of the backs. If we have stopped the hoofing then he will play it from the back Iam thinking it's because of the way we were setup before with MM.
Wouldn't say a keeper is this season's problem. As ronny has pointed out I think Marshy will need to be replaced if we want to progress further but he is having an excellent season and has for a couple of years. Would rather he spent the money elsewhere.
Agree with SBFF and Blue. It's a position where we have one of the top performers in the PL this season, so is hardly urgent. It'll be interesting to see how/if his distribution improves once we are looking to play football rather than safety first defensive.
In the worse games one person always stood out and that was Marshall for example against Spurs under constant attack. Then in the few games we actually won he was also in top form With luck Marshall will not have to suffer from non stop attacks and concentrate on getting our attacks going more. It is easy to forget other keepers actually got players in the opponents half when a long ball is kicked. jck
No they can not; the problems at in particular LB have been a cause of our difficulties all season. Too many crosses have come in. Too many balls have been sent straight to the opposition by our full backs. No decent penetration down both wings at pace until KTC and John were given the shirts.
Teven Taylor from Newcastle? http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/...cardiff-city-target-newcastle-uniteds-6475716 Is he a leftie?
Put Witts in front of Ashley Cole and he'd have problems. I think his days in the first team could be numbered, both the new lads sound like they can give the team what he does but almost certainly with more energy.
The perennial question of Peter Whittingham. Yes he can take a corner and make a pass but what is his best position? Clearly too slow for the wing. His best position IMO is between midfield and the forwards. He can then drill shots towards the goal. When he plays too deep he is of limited use. He popped up in the box at Hull for a goal, and should have netted versus Southampton; his best role is central and advanced. His free kick ability has diminished. Ok, he lobbed in a good one at Anfield for Mutch but when did he last find the net from 20-25 yards? Noone is a better bet, he netted one v Bolton last season. Going back to his corners, the majority have been average this season whereas last season they were largely excellent. In conclusion I feel OGS will be perturbed by the lack of his speed and dynamism and he'll be on the periphery.
Pity but we cannot hide from the truth, this was his chance at shining in the premier league and he has been coasting. jck
