Good idea, those that opt out would get a tax rebate of £2 per year and the rest of us wouldn't have to listen to their moaning.

 

Those who continued to support the monarchy would have to make up the shortfall, could be expensive if lots of people opted out.

The Monarchy and especially the associated are a walking anachronism.

There is no place in modern societ for these people when people are homeless and struggling to make ends meet.

At least in the likes of Sweden and The Netherlands they keep a relatively low profile and do not leech like parasites off the proletariat.

That is one of the few times I have been genuine on here.

I don't mind the Queen personally but it is time for change.

 

By getting rid of the monarchy there will be no more homelessness.

 

There won't be - the monarchy would have to sleep on the streets and they're not going to share shop doorways with normal homeless people so they'd have to be summarily executed.

 

Plenty of bedrooms in Buckingham Palace...

 

I'd actually be willing to retain the monarchy, or at least see the argument for retaining them, if they kept it low key and didn't insist on lording it all over us in gold coaches.
