    The season we finished 10th:

On the 22nd of January we were 6th place on 37 points after 24 games played

At the end of the season we finished 10th place on 17 points

10 points from the last 14 games is shocking, considering where we were (and the fact we were knocked out in both cup competitions in the rounds we entered them), we scraped 10th place because of the good team Bruce had (only for him to ruin it in the upcoming summer transfer window)

I'm sure he's doing well for you, but I'm happy he's not in charge here anymore <ok>

I'd take 12m for Fletcher, provided we use the money very carefully and get a striker in who will suit Poyet's style

Rumours have been picking up of late that suggest Steven Fletcher's future will not be at the Stadium of Light, with Hull City, Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur all linked with the Scottish international.

Neil Lennon recently admitted that he would be interested in Fletcher if he were available but suggested that he probably wouldn't be able to afford the fee Sunderland would demand and Fletcher's agent recently admitted that there was interest in the 26-year-old from English Premier League clubs.

Now one of those Premier League clubs seem to have made the first move for the striker, after The Times reported that Hull City have had an initial bid of £8m rejected by Sunderland. With Steve Bruce's side expected to go back in with an improved offer, although it appears Sunderland are demanding close to £12m for Fletcher, the fee they paid Wolves for last season's top scorer 18 months ago.

The report also says that Fletcher is surplus to requirements at Sunderland, a development which would not be a huge surprise considering his highly frustrating displays of late. Although Fletcher showed his quality before his injury last season, since then he has has either struggled for fitness and form, while also losing regularly losing his place in the team to the similarly under-performing Jozy Altidore.

The key, as usual, will be seeing who comes in to replace Fletcher if he does depart. With Wickham, Graham and now Mandron out on loan, that would leave Jozy Altidore, Fabio Borini and Ji Dong-Won as the only strikers at the club, so it will be critical to our survival hopes that any money for Fletcher is used wisely.

Initial reports out of Italy say we have contacted Genoa and Roma over Alberto Gilardino and Marco Borriellorespectively, as possible replacements but both requests were rejected by the Italian sides.

I'm a little worried, I guessed before the window that we might listen to offers for any player. Better not sell him on the cheep.

We MUST keep Fletcher,or we are doomed!Altidore couldn't score in a brothel, and who else have we???Maybe Gus knows who would solve our goal-scoring problem.

I think it may be a possibility of him leaving, but only if a suitable replacement is found first..As I've said before, I think Fletcher is struggling to adjust to our new style of play..

Ellis Short is a yankee so he will know how this works. He will grow a big long beard & put on a pair on dungarees & stand with a shot gun outside of the stadium of light shouting " get off my property" and fire a few blasts at anybody who comes in for Fletcher.

Tell fat face £12m cash and he's yours.

None of our squad currently are indispensable and I'd replace him with Demba Ba and young Ings from Burnley for a combined outlay of around £15m. £8m for Ba and £7m for Ings. Maybe even a deal to take Gardner to Burnley as well so he can be closer to the midlands.

Talk of Gardner signing for Birmingham but they scoffed at £1m. rich
of them seeing what they charged us.

The thing with Ings.....Wickham has 7 in 10 in that league.

Sunderland coach Gus Poyet has admitted he would be forced to sell striker Steven Fletcher if the club receive a substantial enough offer.
Hull City and Celtic are thought to be leading the chase for the Scotland international, with reports claiming Steve Bruce's side have seen an £8 million bid rejected.
Fletcher has scored three goals in 16 Premier League outings this season, making him the Wearside club's top scorer, and Poyet is desperate to keep him as Sunderland battle against relegation.
But the Uruguayan remains realistic and concedes that any member of his squad might leave if a big bid is submitted.
"I'm not the type of person to say 'no-one is for sale' and then we sell one," he said. "Why? Because every single player has a price.
"That is the truth. If someone comes with a crazy offer for a player he will go. I'm not talking about Fletcher, I'm talking about every player.
"I've got no issues with Steven, that's why he's playing.
"If I had issues I wouldn't be playing him. We need to use the squad because of the quantity of games.
"I don't take anything personal with any player, sometimes they get it wrong.
"If they don't play, sometimes it can be a tactical reason and sometimes we don't explain it because if you did that every time you would not stop calling players.
