Meanwhile... here in America... Just got the auto dialer from my kids school call me... school closed tomorrow due to weather. Not a snow day... no snow... not for ice (no precipitation expected). School is closed because "it is cold". Highs tomorrow here is about 0 degrees C. which... yes is very cold for South Carolina... and it will be even colder at night... but still. School closed because its cold?
Go to the downtown library bluff and find a big old fireplace, you'll have enough heat if you burn the books until help arrives. Jeez they could make a movie about it.
Up North it might be more of a legitimate concern... down South... put a coat on... those strange things you see northerners wearing on the movies... or just wear extra layers. Must admit though went out to put insulation of the taps outside and with the wind it did feel pretty nippy.
Tonight I did the boiling water thing ( When it is cold enough and you are up high enough you can pour out boiling water and it will turn to snow)....... and it worked! Is this what a cold wet day in Stoke feels like?

Haha. Tbh, it doesn't really snow an awful lot in this country (except on high ground- and only small, mis-shapen humanoid thingies live there). Neither does it get very cold all that often. The Gulf Stream tends to keep us from extremes of hot or cold. The reason we get the urine extracted by others is because it tends to rain a lot, even in the summer and so can be a bit dismal. It's been a wet and (very) windy winter so far, but the temperatures haven't even gone near zero, never mind -15. Yet.
WTF is wrong with American cops. Cops respond to call from parents mentally ill kid acting up. Just recently 2 cops show up and taser and restrain him, job done, 3rd cop walks in saying we dont have time for this and shoots the kid in the chest. This is the umpteenth time police have shot a mentally ill person. The video in the link are the parents who showed up a press conference they were not invited to. Not even allowed see the body of their 18 year old kid. Bluff what the **** is going on with murican cops, they are dangerous bastards, in fact gun happy murdering mofos. kid had two tasers on him as it was. Bluff... snow thing sounds pretty cool... doubt it is cold enough here for that though. 17F (-8C) was our low... have to get pretty darn high up for boiling water to freeze before it hits the ground at that temp. That's probably the coldest its ever got since I've lived in America... i think it will be slightly warmer tonight... still pretty cool getting to see ice on the bushes where the neighbourhood left the sprinklers on. Don't get to see ice covered plants often. My wife wants to do the frozen bubble thing with kids where you blow bubbles... and then watch the bubbles freeze after they land.
ya last night it was like -17 with the windchill and it turned straight away. No snow here, just ****ing super cold.
