You should stake your claim to ownership of the Aberdeen board, Theo, as there's no one around to oppose you. If you fancy owning a large empty space, situated adjacent some noisy Old Firm neighbours, it's absolutely yours for the taking. Go for it. I'm way too depressed to put up a fight and not one single Aberdeen fan seems to have joined this site since the BBC's 606 closed down. The floor's all yours.....
I declare this site in the name of Arsenal, oh sorry aberdeen. Im surprised no one has joined from the the old 606 lot but i spose they have their reasons and commenting on aberdeen at the moment is a bit pointless, have faith in craig brown though im sure he will come good. mon the dons
I know what you mean. I really thought (and hoped) that the Aberdeen fans would come over from 606. I'm disinclined to go looking for them, however, as I'm happy on this site - even if it sometimes feels a bit weird having to hover around the boards of other teams. People look at you funny. Although you're right, of course, in that it feels a bit pointless discussing Aberdeen at the moment. What's left to say, after all, apart from "oh no, oh no, oh no, oh noooooo...." over and over again? (I do have faith in Craig Brown, though, and I tell myself that he'll finally set things straight.) Congratulations on winning the leadership contest for the Aberdeen board (you great big thieving Gooner). You have won the (highly-prized) right to talk to yourself. Take it easy. Kind regards from down here in Ireland to way up there in Elgin.....
I seem to recall some old perv called Toiler On the Sea though he seemed to spend most of his time on the Celtic board. Wonder what happened to the old ****?
Well, there were quite a few of them, I suppose - although the numbers pale, obviously, when set against fans of the Old Firm teams, say, or any of the big English teams. I could probably think of about fifteen names off the top of my head, for example, but not one of them has made the switch here. In total, I reckon there were maybe 30 or so fairly regular Aberdeen contributors, with a number of stragglers in the margins (including myself). The only active Aberdeen fan on this site that I can think of is EasterRoad1980 (Toiler from 606), and he’s too busy winning friends and admirers on General Chat, as you’ll know, to bother much with the Aberdeen boards. Besides, he’s been here since long before 606 died a death. Your eyes will doubtless glaze over, Edge – and I’ll try not to hold this against you – but here’s a list of the some of the names I remember, if only for the historical record: Baggios Ponytail SheepieKev Lucan4Scanlon Johnnyred West Coast Don Dennistoun Don Bob Reid SteveToshWasBest Lady Baa Baa Neuroces Don of the Dead Pompey Don Granite Red Redmentalist The list goes on – or it would do, in any event, if I knew how to add to it. But sure, there were a few of us over there. I’ve never really met an Aberdeen fan I properly liked, however, so I’m not entirely certain how keenly their absence will be felt in the grand scheme of things. Let’s just wait and see……
Baggios Ponytail - Remember SheepieKev - Remember Lucan4Scanlon - Dunno Johnnyred - Dunno West Coast Don - Remember Dennistoun Don - Remember Bob Reid - Dunno SteveToshWasBest - Kinda Remember I think Lady Baa Baa - Remember Neuroces Don of the Dead - Dunno Pompey Don - Dunno Granite Red - Dunno Redmentalist - Dunno Are they on new606 or JA now?
They're all victims of 'The Silver City Strangler'. He prowls the streets of Aberdeen and renders his victims catatonic by playing recordings of Mark McGhee interviews to them. After strangling them, he puts a sticker of one of the 1983 ECWC winning team from his Panini album on their forehead and dumps the body. The police have withheld this detail from the public.
Not necessarily. I could be a copper involved in the investigation. I could be a journalist who's been asked not to publish this detail. I may have discovered one of the bodies. I might work for Panini and been asked by the police to provide details of that season's print run. I could be an expert witness involved in some other capacity. I might be a lucky 'victim' who managed to escape the killer. I could be a witness to one of the attacks. I could be talking bollocks. Take your pick.
I’m not entirely sure where they all are – I think the group may have fragmented quite badly – and I’ve not looked at Ja606 yet. Not even a cursory glance. I saw a few very obvious Ja606ers posting on this site, overtly trying to steal some traffic, and the nature and quality of their interventions left me in no particular hurry to check the site out. I don’t mind wumming – I’m a fan, in fact – but it needs come from the high end of the market. (On a side note: I utterly detest when people come here and are still in “evade the censors” mode and use substitute words or weird lettering to replicate a “****” or a “bastard” or a “****”: “fack”, “barsteward”, “cant” etc. Jesus, it makes me die inside. I don’t know why. I can’t quite express how empty and hopeless it makes me feel to see such things. I never really use the words myself, right enough, but I despise a coyness around them.) Anyway. I know a few went to New606, but this has always felt like their problem, not mine. Tarquin: take your filthy McGhee talk and do one. Although, talking of Panini stickers…. I was looking at some the other day <****bank> and found that the Hibs defence and midfield from 1979/80 looked exactly – exactly – like old-school German porn stars. All of them. To a man. It’s magnificent. You must check them out, Tarquin, and do yourself a favour. And across the city, at Hearts, they all looked like out and out rapists, leering and dangerous. I’m just not sure they make footballers like this anymore? They look like different physical specimens to the current crop of players (and humans). There is a certain gladdening degeneracy that hangs in the air around them and seems to actively disfigure their features. Hibs....in particular, Mike Mcdonald, Ally Brazil, Tony Higgins, Bobby Smith, Gerry O’Brien, Des Bremner and Arthur Duncan. And Hearts....Jim Jefferies, Drew Busby, Donald Park, Bobby Prentice and Willie Gibson – they actually already look like badly drawn photofits of deviants, the kind of thing Nick Ross may hold up to the camera on Crimewatch with a few timely words of warning. Meanwhile, in Motherwell…… please log in to view this image
I'm hedging my bets. I reckon he might be a "lucky victim" who escaped. I hope you'll apologise to the man if this turns out to be the case. Nous sommes tous lucky victims.
Hello, nice to see I was remebered. I joined here when 606 closed, but it was so quiet I never bothered hanging about much. I spend a bit more time on Ja606, but it's not much better. Seems like the old guard have all just disappeared.
