Anybody who gets all 23 correct will officially be my hero. Here's my attempt: Hart Foster Forster Baines Shaw (heard it here first!) Jagielka Cahill Smalling Jones Walker Johnson Milner - Edited after Theo injury Townsend Carrick Gerrard Wilshere Barkley Henderson Lallana Welbeck Rooney Lambert Sturridge Don't think Lampard, Carrick and Gerrard will all go. I think Shaw will go unless Cole starts playing regularly again for Chelsea. Can anyone put enough form together to merit a late call up? Perhaps Lennon? Rodriguez? Clyne? Gibbs? Sterling? Young? Will Townsend go if he continues not to start in the league? Will Lambert go if he continues to look so leggy? Recurring theme seems to be a lack of viable alternatives!
Lambert will probably go anyway. He suits England and is a target man option. The only alternative to him would be Crouch who, to be fair, I wouldn't rule out. I pretty much agree with your squad, except I do think Cole will go and not Shaw, and I can see Lampard in there instead of Townsend.
I think it will be: Hart, Foster, Forster, Cole, Baines, Jagielka, Cahill, Jones, Smalling, Walker, Johnson, Lampard, Gerrard, Carrick, Barkley, Lallana, Townsend, Walcott, Wilshere, Rooney, Welbeck, Lambert, Sturridge.
Do you think Cole should go? Not sure Shaw has done enough in the last month or so to displace him but I just can't see a player going who's hardly played football this year. Hodgson has been pretty clear that he won't want to pick players lacking match sharpness
Shaw won't go. Rodriguez is more likely I think. I'm with you in that Lampard should not go, but I bet he will, no matter what kind of form he is in. If Sterling continues as he is right now I think he will go. Too early to say though, still a whole half-season to go and anything could happen really.
I think he'll go as an experienced player. He's not been playing much, but I'm sure he'd still be good for England. Shaw doesn't deserve it, frankly, and there aren't many other options. Cole will get some playing time between now and then, and if Hodgson does want him in the squad I imagine he'll play him in the remaining friendlies. One thing I'm pleased about is that none of us think Milner will go. What about Barry, though? He's looking good again.
I think Milner will go. In fact I'd be very surprised if he doesn't. He's not showy but he's one of the most versatile and consistent players we have, and has seemingly been in every England squad for the last few years.
If you think Lampard and Milner will both go, which two of Joey's squad do you think would miss out for them?
That would be tragic. Not just because they're better options than Lampard and Milner, but because they're also better than Townsend. Honestly though, if Henderson keeps up his form I can't see him missing out.
Actually think Milner has a very good chance of going but no idea who instead of. Don't think Barry will go, Joe. I think his performance vs Germany basically put pay to his international career although I agree his current form is excellent. Glad nobody's gone for Cleverley thus far!!
I think, based on current form, they will both go. I just can't imagine Hodgson or the FA having the guts to drop Lampard. If I had to pick players to be dropped, Smalling, Jones, Walker and Johnson certainly don't all need to go. Sturridge's performances for England have all been awful so unless he improves he should be left at home as well.
