    Jones.

Alberto hasn't had too many chances yet and might end up okay.

Oh that's fair enough, he isn't exactly young either.

I'd like to see Alberto given a proper run of games. He's only young as well. I have high hopes for him. <ok>

I thought he looked ok Alberto but Redman's right that he certainly doesn't know his role yet (neither do I tbh haha). He certainly looks good enough technically but wants too many touches. He has to learn quickly that in England you just won't often get the opportunity to stroll around like you can in Spain. Still see enough in him to think he can develop though <ok>

Its good we have let a few fringe players get a game and win, such as Gerrard.

In the not so recent past we either would not have had the quality or would be under so much pressure that we would simply not perform and lose.

Its nice that we are winning a bit more regularly.

    little update on Agger

The centre-back limped out of action in the latter stages of the 2-0 victory over the Latics, meaning the Reds were required to play the final few moments of the FA Cup third-round tie with 10 men having used all three substitutions.

Brendan Rodgers told his post-match press conference: "It's too early [to tell] yet. It looked like his calf had cramped up.

"We're just waiting and we'll probably know a wee bit more tomorrow."

IF it is his calf that has cramped up how long you usually out for with that? cheers

5 men sitting in a bar: Mr. Wenger, Mr. Mourinho, Mr. Rodgers, Mr. Moyes and Mr. Martinez..... The first round of beers was on Mourinho, he bought a portugese beer to each of the others. The second round was on Martinez, he bought everybody a San Miguel. The third round was on Wenger, he bougt everybody a glass of red wine. The fourth round was on Rodgers, he bought a pint to the guys, except for Moyes. Then Mr. Moyes said; Hey guys what about my pint...??? Rodgers looked at him and said; Sorry David, this is the fourth round, and you are NOT in it..

    Found it on Facebook.

He's suffering from what Allen suffered from when he first arrived, good player, good technically, no idea where and how he needs to play though.
Once he's had a run of games and his position/role in the team is confirmed, I expect good things from him...
Only now that Allen's got a role defined within the team are we seeing him perform better, Alberto will do likewise towards the end of this year (if he gets more games) or from the start next year,

As with the majority of youngsters who come in from abroad he needs time to adjust and get up to speed. His teammates need to adjust to him as well etc etc. As with Allen he seems to have solid basics (good touch and very good passer) but over the next 12 months we need to see if he can develop the other areas he will need. He needs to speed up his play which is easier said than done and he needs to find his best position for the English game. His biggest issue now will come if we sign another one or two midfielders and his chances become much more limited.

It must be beyond doubt now that Hendo > Cleverly? Heck, even good'ole Jonjo is better than the Oxymoron that is "Cleverly"?

    true,

trouble is bbc salford will keep peddling the how good a player he is and probably future england captain crap and dismiss better players because of who he plays for and where they are based, the london media are the same with Wilshere but at least he is talented.

I still stick by my statement that Henderson is currently our best midfielder. He's starting to add assists, now we just need the goals and he'll be a top, top player <whistle>

    Going OT...

    Wilshere is class..
A future English midfield of Hendo, Wilshere and Barkley, that'd be pretty tasty IMHO!
Rooney, Sturridge and A N Other up front.
Hart, decent RB (Johnson is getting worse and Walker isn't much better), Cahill, Jags, Baines/Shaw

Is the team I'd play in the World cup and going forward, young, talented and (apart from Rooney), not scared from previous tournament failures..

    Whilshire has been poor recently.

Cleverley has been abysmal. If he somehow goes to the World Cup I won't bother watching.

I'd agree, he maybe going through a "rough" patch, but when he's on form he's a cert. to start.

Cleverly is mince, always has been.

A vastly overated player, but I think you're wrong to put the reason for that at the doors of the BBC like...

Wilshere flatters to deceive as well imo. He aint all that.

if i stick my oar in..

    England future midfield?

How should england use barkely is the number one question. I mean lets face it england is tactically a disaster zone so its really as simple as you like kind of thing depending on the manager.

Surely if a side say played the LFC way then you'd want one guy sitting and two guys, one of which would be barkley playing box to box. henderson could play either role but IMO I would like to see him step back into the holding role (not defensive) and use his demonstrated passing ability. I don't like henderson playing with his back to goal.. get him turned and he's good. whilshire could be that other CM but as tobes said... i fancy barkely to be the by far more effective player

cleverly wouldn't really enter the equation for me.

I'd prob stick sturridge and rooney up top and then look for one of townshend, walcott, ox, sterling et al to play with them.

Jonny is right Hart, in goal and then its a case of wh oto pikc. shaw long term, baines for the next two years for WC and euros, RB is an issue for england and yes jagielka is the pick of a rapidly shrinking category... jones or chaill? both kickers... pick one of those.

All in all england really have no excuse when you add some experience in the form of gerrard to that on paper...

hodgson will try to get 3 draws and be eliminated most likely
