I read Fergie's book recently, and it's amazing the amount of control that guy had over that club, and still has. He appointed Moyes, and a manager picking his own successor was not wise, IMO.
The only thing that'll make this season as sweet as winning the league, is United not getting a top 4 place. Despite us being trophyless for years, considering the circumstances, we were consistently in the champions league and never on channel 5. To see Van Pussy on Channel 5 (if they even get that) would be poetic justice.
someone somewhere made a post detailing the financialcost of Moyes failure if it continues. as it Stands NOW its minus 200 million quid wiped off the value of the club . If they fail to Get CL next year that could rise to 800 million quid. !
I agree, too close the situation to make a proper judgement call. The trouble for Utd now is that nobody will challenge Fergie's decision to appoint Moyes and so they'll watch him drag them into mid table.
In spite of our struggles we had stability, a manager who knew the club and a tried and trusted system which made it easier for new players in to integrate. Manure have a mess, Moyes doesn't even know his own best combinations.
I've said it plenty of times before, but if we'd of sacked Wenger when some fans were screaming for him to go, we would have dropped out of the top four and and would now be finding ourselves in a similar position to what's happening at Utd.
Watching the Juve game against Roma, and that man Vidal has again given Juve the lead. Best CM in the world, bar none.
No chance. He can easily do what Martniez does, but Vidal can also score goals for fun. Let's not forget that Bayern always wanted Vidal when he was at Bayer.
For me, this has been coming for years at United and it is the dint in the shine of the Ferguson era at United, that he left the club as weak as when he found it. For every position at the club you need 3 or 4 players with the right mix of veterans, young players and stars. United have too many veterans that are well past their best, too few stars, and not enough young players with genuine potential. Unlike Chelsea or City, they do not have a sugar-daddy to bail them out with a blank cheque. Sir Alex may have been a great tactician, maybe he had good luck as well, but it just helped to cover up his failings as a strategist. Moyes/United now need at least a dozen or more players, about 3 of them genuine stars, and I would be surprised if they have more than 100M to spend on them; it might be a whole lot less. United are looking an awful lot like Rangers up in Scotland. Player assets (values) are dropping and veterans cannot be sold, to fund their replacements. Debts are high, the bond card has been played already, and the owners are not rich enough to put their own money in. It probably will not get as bad, because revenues in England are higher than in Scotland and United pull in a lot of money from Old Trafford being sold out, but even so recovery might be a long way away. The decision to splash 27M on afroman is just another thing that has gone against them. They can't afford many more busts like that.
good points but , add into the mix that about 30/40 per cent of the people filling that ground are plastics , when the success goes , they will all go too. to city , to chelsea maybe , but they will definitely go.
