Was chatting to some fellow Reds in the alehouse yesterday evening. One of them came up with a very interesting statistic.

If you look at the squads for the England u.17, u.19 and u.21s, no less than 18 of them are with Liverpool.

Pays testament to the work of Rafa, the two Barcelona boys and, of course, Kenny. Does this bode well for the future? I think so.

I have noticed that for sure.

to be honest there are a few signings in there... like messers sterling, shelvey, henderson etc.... but also credit to the boys like regan, morgan, coady, as well.

It's all positive for the club but we have to get them through too.... Its going to be difficult. Kelly has shown the way but equally i can count lots of fine lads at u18 level that never progressed.

Of that 18, if we get 5-6 i'll be very happy.

Who would you guys suggest could make it in Championship? I think my club (Hull City) will be looking for some quality youth again this season. We took Ayala for first half of season (till Hodgeson had a little tantrum) who was immense (reckon we will sign him on a full deal when you buy your first team defenders) and Amoo who was poor to say the least, doubt he will be at Anfield very long.
Anyone to look out for (guessing we will want wingers, maybe CB)

andre wisdom. would be good for him, you and us if he went to a championship team. progressing really well.
silva or suso also could do with being given first team chances in the championship.

to be honest there is a whole string of them who could be mentioned.

about the england squads, it's great that we have loads in there, but how many of them are first team or squad players for england, esp in the U21's? i know coady is the U17's captain and sterling is a mainstay of the team, but the likes of morgan is a bit part player in the england set up. are many of the others breaking through?

    @citycityhull

    you'd want Suso

but I don't know if they want to keep him close to train him rather than loan him

amoo has disappointed i think... he has power and pace and has never learned to get his head up at all.

I think for a championship loan we are between two stools right now. it could be shelvey.... i think some of the kids are too young for that level and we've u19 european competition for them. SO you are taking pacheco, ayala, darby, shelvey.... maybe ince? its hard to say. some are more likely to be sold!

i think championship is the minimum level to loan to, if we have to loan someone to league one we ought to be thinking the player should be sold.

You hit the nail on the head moreinjuredthen owen, he has raw pace and power, but his ball control and positioning are awful. He doesnt read the game well and cannot spot a pass.

I would take Ayala back in a heart beat and think we will, would also like Darby. I think Shelvey will go to Bolton, Wigan or QPR to get regular games, and Pacheo to Norwich, shame really as they are what we need.

Heard a lot about Suso and Coady and think they could do very well with a season with us, Nigel Pearson certainly brings out the best in young players.

Looks to me like Liverpool have a bright future if Kelly, Spearing, Flannigan and Robinson are anything to go by.

I'd agree with the 2nd part of your comment, he's to young to be loaned out. I think he will be put straight into the first team next season along with Sterling.

12/13 season is what I meant.

i think both are too young, they'll be playing european u19 and reserve next year then will be ready for a loan.

amoo has totally relied on bascially running past lads his own age and has never shown me much progression. mind you this loan was importnat first step in opening his eyes to a level where he can't do that.
flanagan could be a shout though

It's difficult when talking about the Academy lads as most of us have only limited kn owledge of them and we don't know what the clubs plans are. However. what a lovelly problem to have.

Not trying to put a dampner on things but we have to ensure that this talent train keeps on producing for us

it is hard to know what'll happen in the next 5 years... signings have certainly help the academy. locals have come through a bit more. but just maybe has the SENIOR team management just given them more chances as no pressure is on this year I don't know if that will continue.

I would hope to see a better situation than that at chelsea where bascially bar one kid (mceachron) the rest have no chance.

Up the Tigers for next season btw. (My second team). Promotion, or failing that, a better finish than Leeds please.

well hopefully so for old zarak001's sake from 606... lol....

my thoughts on the prem is that i have come to realise that it is far more important to have fans who actually give a damn..... hull, blackpool, stoke and portsmouth have without a doubt been the best fans i nthe prem ove rthe last while.

examples.... wigan and blackburn, half empty stadiums...... arsenal... dull and boring quiet, chelsea lol... they steal flag designs!!!! lol...

stoke are great, ok their grounds not the biggest but they give a great athmosphere, just like pompey.... hull give colour and character to the league, so did blackpool...

hope to see both clubs come back while chicken farmers and rugby league clubs go back to where they belong.
