Could have done without a replay but means I get to see a game a week on Tuesday and as the for the poster who hadn't realised we were doing so well in League 1 shame on you
Totally agree Welly. An extra game we could do without and a long laborious trip for what will be a hard game. It'll be more beneficial to pne I'm sure although the extra revenue we could get if we progress and get a good draw would be nice. The "fringe" players missed out today I think to prove they're up for it. But i think most if not all of us are in agreement the league and our push for the play offs takes precedence.
Dreadful performance today, a non existent mid field including the inneffective Tabb and the generally useless Wordsworth played the first half today at little more than walking pace, no tempo, no spirit, no passion and an allround cluelessness that had to seen to be believed. We were lucky not to be 3 1 down at half time, it was if the players had been told not to get injured and not to get carded, if we really have no interest in the FA Cup then dont enter the bloody thing.
OK so MM decided to rest most of the regulars today, some have been carrying knocks by the sound of it.! To say it has backfired on him would be an understatement, SEB injured after 25mins, Tabb, Edwards & Wordy all had poor games, Didsy missed a pen (again) the keeper almost saved the rebound.! And now we have an extra game in ten days time.! We were poor, in itself is disappointing as it would have put off the supporters who chose to come today due to the cheap tickets, a couple I spoke to said that they would not be hurrying back.! For me the golden rule when changing your team for a cup game....avoid a replay.!
Will we even make that much from the replay? I've got no idea how much it costs to take the team away but it can't be cheap, include appearance fees etc and it must make for high bills.
I think we can safely say it'll be an unnecessary ball ache. Would many of us been overly concerned had we lost yesterday? When the draw is done today and we end up away at Rochdale then the replay becomes a bigger pain, only the carrot of a draw against one of the big boys and the financial gain may make progressing even remotely worth it.
Come on lads what's happened to the romance of the F.A cup, the cup we once won, if we'd of had that attitude way back when we wouldn't have that to fondly look upon. This is another part of the soul of football being destroyed because of the cash cow of the PL, what ever happened to the glory of football, it's all about money nowadays!!!
Fair point ptc...sad but inevitable. Watched the terible swift of Darlington FC this morning on some BBC web...built huge expensive modern stadium...massive funds from new owner...all went pear-shaped in 6 months...all went bankrupt...Rugby Club took over and have weekly attendance of 900!
I'd never want us to lose any match, under any circumstances, but I'd certainly lose no sleep if we lost at Deepdale now, in fact, as one of our play-off place rivals, I'd be very happy for Forest to have an extended cup run...
Hell no. I hate losing. If it was in the realms of reality we'd win the cup and still get promoted. But as it is I'll take it as it comes and if we progress all well and good,if we don't,oh well. Any advantage we can gain over promotion rivals will be vital.
Mick should stick to the kids for the game against Preston as we do have bigger fish to fry and why risk injuries to key players on a nothing game! The FA CUP has lost it's lustre over the years and although I have some very fond memories such as Clive Woods screamer against Leeds in 1975! I really won't be losing any sleep if we get knocked out at this stage!
If we're talking memories guys,I don't quite go back that far but my earliest memory is a bad one and its Paul Power in 81. In terms of replay I'd tend to agree with you warky. Lets keep the fringe players in and some of the youngsters and see what they've got in them.
Was there in the Holte End that day...even as Power lined up that freekick and the wall was set, you just knew that he was going to score...
