Presumably, since I agreed with Dai's post,my opinion is also "null and void"? We have no way of knowing, for sure, how much faster and fitter these two player's are in comparison to Eusebio. However,as evidenced on archive footage,he looks fit and fast to me. What we DO KNOW,however,is that they played with real leather football's, that when wet, were like cannon balls, and today's player's would struggle to play with them. To suggest that Eusebio would be a modern day diver is also speculation, and disrespectful of a player of the highest integrity. By comparison, I don't think you could place "Ronaldo" and "integrity" in the same sentence. However,at the end of the day,it's just down to opinions, and I think I've made mine clearly known. It's a crying shame that today's fans' seem so dismissive of the top player's of yesterday. Almost as if their contributions to the game were irrelevant.
What has sprinting got to do with it...Its no good running fast if you cant do it with the ball And players cant do that today like they could back then....Messi and even alan tate may win a sprint but pele and eusabio would do it with the ball at their feet..
For me, Ryan Giggs was probably the last fast runner who could dribble with the ball at his feet, and as I'm in my mid 20s, he's the best I've seen live doing so. Dribbling with the ball at high speed is one of the most technically difficult traits to master in football, and sadly it seems to be disappearing from the game.
No, thanks to the reputation has he made for himself on Not606 everything DaiSwan types is automatically null and void as soon as he presses the keyboard, regardless of what others think.
"If there was an Olympic event for being wrong you'd be the all time record holder for gold medals, it is why nobody here respects you." I agree, but you must be careful Project, his minders will accuse you of bullying him. Where are you, boys? Quick enough to chip in usually. Valley: "For me, Ryan Giggs was probably the last fast runner who could dribble with the ball at his feet, and as I'm in my mid 20s, he's the best I've seen live doing so." Suarez. Probably the best in the world right now.
Dai has "minders"? I wonder who they are. Come on Knackered, enlighten us,stop teasing. Name names, let us get the stocks up and running. Teach them the folly of their ways.
Giggs has more of a reputation for dribbling down his brother's missus's leg leg than for his football
Couldn't care less what a player does off the pitch, but him running down the wing with the ball at his feet was like poetry in motion.
Why say that about Giiggs? Because he played around? Not the first man to be ruled buy his dick. We can't all be paragons of virtue. If we judged players on their private lives there wouldn't be that many making it into any team. I'm sure we've all done stuff we now regret. Dai's minders, Vetch: Dragon on the right, Norway on the left. They jump to Dai's defence if they feel he's being "bullied" - but you should be alright - they only say something when it's me. It's called 'selective outrage'.
No provocation intended Valley. I was asked to post by Vetch. I had tons of **** from them yeaterday for "bullying" dai and nothing is being said by them today when others do so. Funny that. Just friendly banter, and Vetch did ask me to name the minders - I have done so but will leave it at that. Edit the post if you find it offensive. Trust me they always have a right go at me no matter what I say so it makes no difference.
Hopefully Tom Ince was at the game today and liked what he saw. (Apart from thinking he won't get in the team !!)
be interesting to see this proof of yours that the likes of Messi and Ronaldo would struggle to play with the balls of old. That comment is the most pathetic comment I have ever heard or read, mainly because I have heard it so many times its unbelievable. Ever thought that players of old would struggle to play with the lightweight ball of today that you only have to hit wrong iand it flies up in the air. Sorry its a comment an old man makes. And is just a load of bollocks. Yet you yourself have been disrespectful and speculative in your comments, talk about hypocritical. Messi and Ronaldo couldn't kick a ball of old wasn't it? lol Also there has been comments about diving, yet Messi is well known for his unwillingness to hit the deck, many appreciate him as a player who will do his best to stay on his feet even when being hacked, so again, those making comparisons are old men who like to think the footballers they grew up with were some sort of super men that could hit that hard leather ball, and never dived, load of bullshit, and we all know it.
Sorry its a comment an old man makes. And is just a load of bollocks. We older men as you put it have been around to see both types so would know the difference between playing with a leather ball and what they play with today. so the only bollocks here is from your mouth who have never witnessed those times
I don't need any proof,it's an opinion, and it is shared by many ex professionals who played the game. Presumably you know better than them. You really are a clown, actually an ageist clown. Read my post again. I didn't say they "couldn't kick a ball of old",more that they "would struggle to play with them". See the difference? If you need some help, just let me know. Age does have a few benefits. Enlightening idiots is one of them. Where did I say/infer that Messi was/is a diver? So you want to see a "pathetic comment",then let me refer you to your post No.36.
I do think there's a tendency fo old duffers like me (sorry guys) to think that the players of the past were better. It's a decent debate but here's my two penneth worth. Football is no different to athletics or tennis, or many other sports. Human endeavour over the ages means that boundaries get pushed higher and higher almost by the year. The pace of today's game is frankly terrifying at times - particularly at the highest levels. Today's players need to be fiitter than ever before and they are. Whether they could adapt to an old style ball is debatable but they would almost certinaly out-run and out-climb their predecessors. The players of old were legends in their time, just as today's players are legends in this time and will be remembered in the future. But at the moment, right now, I can't think of any players past or present that come close to Ronaldo, Messi or even Suarez.
