What concerns me is some of the players we've signed are, frankly, not up to the task and there may be more of the same in this window...
No offence lads but we've done similar to what we did to you lot yesterday, to better sides than yours this season We've only lost 1 game in a year at home & that was the other week when we played with 10 men for 70 mins after gifting them a pen to boot You were poor yesterday, but I think the step up in class caught you out. It's. It what you've been used to facing this season & it showed. However, it's merely 1 game & you've got everything to play for in the league. Good luck with your promotion chase
None taken. Hope you get some reward from your efforts this season and that we can look forward to a visit to Goodison Park next season against one of the CL teams. I'd always rated Moyes as a manager but what Martinez has done (so far) with pretty much the same squad makes me envious that our owners have never had the courage to go for someone other than a so-called proven name manager. What's the consensus in your side of Stanley Park about the two of them?
Thanks mate. Moyes was well liked by most & respected by all, but he's destroyed all of that with his words & actions since he left. There was a section of the fan base who wanted him gone though, as they felt his football was dour & that his 'safety first' default setting was causing us to bottle big games, especially away from home Martinez was not everyone's first choice (me included) but he's done a great job so far & it's refreshing to hear our manager talking the club up, rather than seeking to dampen expectation by creating the 'plucky little Everton' misnomer for our proud old club
Hes already turned into a mini SAF without the managing talent. A complete tosser who constantly whines about refs while having a team full of divers.
Thanx mate and an easy win for your guys ... the difference in class is obvious to all of us and i'm happy it was only 4 i've never been a Moyes fan and always thought the man was a p***k, which was recently confirmed when he was given the "biggest Pr**ks" job i like Martinez, & whilst he may not win as much (time will tell) his football is streets ahead of Moyes. Good luck mate
Short-term contracts and loans of players aged 30+ isn't sustainable or stable model to build a Club around: as Flyer has pointed out on numerous occasions, we'll have to replace many of the current 1st eleven next season, whether we are promoted or not. Although the contracts might be shorter, we've effectively gone down the same route as we did in the PL seasons by offering players in the twilight of their careers a lucrative final payout when they've got nothing left to prove or achieve. I would suggest that recent experience proves that such an approach to first team affairs isn't sustainable.
You've phrased that well, SW. In hindsight, it was probably too much to ask that the whole rotten core of that squad be rooted out in one Summer. It would have been a work of genius had it been done but it ain't and therefore we'll do well to make top six this year. You can't afford to carry a number of players when you're looking to win something (promotion). You might get away with one, if the rest are honest and can play as well. But this squad, as a whole, ain't honest. There's still some lingerers and wasters on our books and they're scuppering the whole deal. Curse on them
He won more in 4 years at Wigan than Moyes managed in 11 years at Everton. Everton are in for a great time for as long as they can hang on to him, as he's destined to take over for Arsene Wenger when the time comes.
Forest signed Jamie Paterson from Walsall before this season. 22 years old and cost a six-figure fee with add-ons taking the total amount beyond £1million. 3 goals and one assist today. Exactly the type of player we should be going for. But what do we get? Gary bloody O'Neil!
We could have been going to .....................Stevenage. We would have lost, glad we went out to Everton...just wish it had been a lucky 1-0
