I haven't read any of Hornby's books. Always got the impression they might be a bit sentimental for my liking. Not enough killing/torturing/maiming etc.
I liked Hi Fidelity but after that he got a bit too formulaic for my liking. I actually did enjoy all the film versions of his books though.
You haven't read Fever Pitch? Because it's by a gooner perhaps? I know lot's of Spurs fans who've never read it for obvious reasons, but it's probably the best book ever written on the universal experience of supporting a football club - any football club.
Nothing to do with him being an Arsenal fan. Firstly because I don't particularly dislike Arsenal. Secondly because I don't care what football team an author follows. It has no bearing whatsoever on my choice of book. I've not read the book because it's not really my cup of tea, as I mentioned earlier.
I'm very particular about what I read. If a book doesn't lie within a certain genre, or isn't written by an author I favour then I won't read it. My wife calls me narrow-minded but I just know what I like. Been off the booze for nearly 4 months now. It was tough at first but gets easier as time passes. Christmas was a bit strange but I don't miss the hangovers.
