I'm going to the game tomorrow as a neutral, my mates a United fan and he's roped us into making the journey up from Aberystwyth in the middle of storm season. We're seated in the North East upper bit, any chance you could tell me what to expect with the atmosphere around there? Looking forward to what should be a good match.

UTID!! Or til we get back home anyway.

Sat up there twice. It's ok. You'd think it would be noisier being by the stretched end. But you're so high up. And it's the quadrant where it seems lads take their birds to watch the game. Once I was surrounded by women all just looking at Facebook throughout the entire game.

Sad to say the atmosphere is poor all around the ground now. The seating hasn`t helped but it is not all down to that, the ground is so big and open that any noise generated is lost. We need a roof!

Ah alright, cheers, hopefully we'll get a good game anyway, and you'll be proved wrong (fingers crossed). Prematch/Postmatch, were are the best places to go for a pint and a pie?

You will be a ten minute walk from Deansgate, not football related but plenty of good places to eat and drink.

United was my first ever away game and from Victoria station down Deansgate to the ground was a running battle that day so never had time to stop to eat or drink.<grr>

To make matters worse we got beat 2-0 , Davies and McDougal scored and Best never had a good game that day thank ****.

Depends where you plan to park of course but if as Diego suggests you head off towards town then The Peveril of the Peak is an outstanding boozer.

Just past Deansgate station then ask someone.

As Roy Keane is now the national manager for my country, I haven't the bollocks for prawn sandwiches <laugh>

In all seriousness though, thanks for the advice, looking forward to a good day now, about to begin the nightmare of a drive up.
