Who was it that had their back turned for our third and nearly missed a chance (can't quite see on phone)
...I'll finish that for you ..... and they do that by building strong squads that compete on all fronts. I have not and wil not dismiss the cup, I am just realistic that the 3rd round of the cup comes at a bad time as it is after a run of too many games when you have a small (ish) squad. The good news is that we are through and I now don't see why we can't go on and play a strong team in the next round and get through. Yes, Wigan have the same number of hounours as us, but I think we are in a better position to get more as we are progressing. For the record, my father-in-law is a Wigan season ticket holder and he moaned nearly every round last year that Martinez didn't take the cup seriously as he kept resting their main players. He did this and they won it. We are in the next round, be happy.
Winning the FA Cup (without a weakened team) saved Fergie from the sack and was the prelude to further success in the League. If we are serious about trying to win it, then we can't play an under strength defence throughout the competition.
Er... we can. We did. And we won. What next? PS. Go and check Wigan's selections in the first three rounds last season... please do it.
Lallana. Him and a few others were appealing for something. Glad Rodriguez kept focussed on the play at least!
We scraped through today, we won't be so lucky if we draw a Premier League team in the next round...that's my point.
Once again, Jesus perez' interview is so much better than Pochettino's. I really fail to see the excuse of using the interpreter now. Perez gives a detailed answer without using any cliches. No journalist at any point tries to catch him out or miss understands what he says. The interpreter is just unnecessary.
So we need to strengthen our backup defensive players to build a squad capable of competing in all competitions.
Indeed. Premier league stipulates the interviews must be conducted by the manager. Not so for the cup.
Absolutely, but that's how you end up competing for the cup without sacrificing progress in the league. This seems to be an issue for some people to get their heads round.
