Yoshida took a knock and hobbled about a bit. Saw Fonte being readied and stripped off ready to come on...we did laugh to see Hooiveld being replaced!!! A hobbling Yoshida still preferable than keeping Hooiveld on!
2 x 2 nil defeats wasn't it. I remember the long trip to Spotland, midweek with the best fish n chips in my footballing experiences. Chippy right outside the away turnstiles.
Big clubs like us prefer small clubs at home in the draw...we already play all the PL teams, so none is a treat. Let's get to the final.
Yep, the away game was one of our games in hand wasnt it? I remember the home game like yesterday. Their 2nd goal was a cracker from Gary Jones who played in Bradfords cup run last year. The 2nd goal also resulted in the Northam singing "we want our pardew back!" Horrible day. Dale fans were a decent bunch though
Jesus Perez says on BBC Radio Solent that Rickie Lambert just had a dead leg. Gaston was fatigued and substituted because with Dani missing, the two of them will be needed.

Nice opening to the Guardian's match report: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jan/04/southampton-burnley-fa-cup
Having seen the highlights I'm not sure Hooiveld is really as culpable as some have said. Certainly for Ings' goal he was just outpaced chasing a ball over the top, not much more he could have done other than take him out and risk a red card. Not really enough of a view of the first one to judge though.
Wow some lovely goals in there. And some terrible defending. How did Ings score from that angle? Really, really shouldn't let that in at your near post when that is all he had to aim for. Nothing we didn't already know though. Boruc will be back soon. We need another top CB and Jos to go the other way. Poor old Jos, but he's too much of a liability, even as back up.
seriously, get a hold of yourself mate, the next round is 3 weeks away and we may even play our best two CBs... or a new one.
I was at the match and thoroughly enjoyed it. But with the exception of CBs, wany and boruc that was a strong side and struggled to control the burnley attack. How are we supposed to compete in the cup without our league form suffering? Lambert is injured and may miss a game or 2. This is why you don't play a strong team in the cup with a squad like ours. If we want to progress in the cup and push towards the top 6 we need to be beating these teams with a (mainly) reserve team. NB given we may have a striker shortage of spam proportions why not sign ings and volkes. Both soton lads!
