Nooooo! We need to invest in building solidity and team ethic. We also need young, sprightly players with something to prove.
But at least it wouldn't have dented the confidence of the first team. We were going to lose today no matter what but at least no one was seriously injured.
Compared to us, it looks like Burnley (losing 4-3 at Saints) and Leicester (losing 2-1 at Stoke) at least showed up today.
Nope.....they equalised with 2 late fouls.....premiership class, keep playing to the final whistle etc!!!!!
With Leicester and Burnley out of the cup and Derby likely to join us tomorrow, it's probably just as well we're out. I can't think of any other positives than that.
I feel Arry got it wrong today. Should have tried more of the youth & fringe players and rested the likes of Austin Phillips etc etc Why Hitchcock couldn't have been on the bench instead of Zamora and then come on with 10 to go when we were already 4 down is beyond my understanding. If he's not good enough then why bother even recalling him from Crewe?? The lad would have bust a gut to make an impression. Stuff like today makes me thing Harry only signs big name Charlies or Spurs youth players. Why even have the EDS???
So then open up your pocket and get in new players to solve that issue. Pretty simple solution you suggest bringing in new players, maybe replacing the coach again, relocating the stadium and finally we do have an equivalent of Chelsea just in another area. Sorry but I am quite happy with what we do have right now the owner not having lost interest in our club and being in a top spot in that league. You are suggesting we should remove a lot of players and bring in new one´s without knowing the result - get real, this will never happen.
Disappointing that no youngsters were given an opportunity. Everton aren't just a PL side, they're a top 5 PL: the gulf between these sides and those at the bottom of the PL is normally pretty expansive, let alone the gap between the PL top 5 and Championship. Just look at the positions of CP and CC. True, it seems like our lack of attacking potency was evident again but there's little point using Everton as a yardstick by which we should judge our current team.
Granted, we are top, but we have not really faced any of the major opposition yet. Come Jan/Feb, that will be sorted. So yes, I'm happy at the moment, but the fat lady hasn't even arrived in the building yet. Posted this on a thread titled : 20 points from 8 games. This was back in September.
No, I never said any of that!!! I didn't say the owner should or shouldn't spend money, move grounds, change managers etc etc etc. In fact, I never even mentioned the bloody owner! As far as I'm concerned he's thrown too much money at this Club as it is and has been let down by his people in the know. I feel for the bloke actually. What I'm simply saying is this. We will not go up without some serious work in this window. I'm not saying the owner should do it, after all he's been shafted enough. But having watched us play this season and if he does want to go up this year, then I think he will have to spend once again this January. You can blame Redknapp or Hughes before him but this current squad ain't got the minerals Butthead. I'm sorry but that's just the way I see it.
I think we have to be realistic, Everton are far better under Martinez than they were under Moyes and they were good then. Martinez has taken them up a step and I wouldn't be surprised to see them finish top 4. I'm glad in a way we kept it to 4 as 5, 6 or 7 would have knocked us completely but am disappointed that we didn't give it a go in the way Burnley and Leicester did. Still could be worse we could be Leeds fans.......
Some fickle people around today - we need to concentrate on the daily business and not compare ourselves with top PL teams. Next Saturday we will beat Ipswich...
No cards, no injuries of note yet, a bit of an embarrassment...could have been worse. Jelavic has seen what he is letting himself in for... Won't come
We normally lose three or four nil to a reserve side from league one at home, so today was an improvement.
Adrian Durham ‏@talkSPORTDrive 24m Everton very impressive, but QPR were diabolical. It's an experienced expensive squad - if Harry doesn't take them up it's a massive failure
We don't know enough about Hitchcock's recall/exclusion today, to be able to speculate as to why he wasn't on the bench. It wasn't a proper mid-loan recall, it was just that Crewe didn't have any more games prior to his loan spell ending- so he might as well have come back here for a bit. In all likelihood, he'll end up being loaned out to Crewe again. I have no issues with the team selection, Burnley picked a stronger starting 11 than we did. I have issue with the performance, which was sh1t.
Well if they had scored on the penalty and if Clint had not saved off the goal-line the score could have easily been 6-0.
