Would you really want what happened at Portsmouth to happen here? I wouldn't in a million years They spent miles beyond their means and have an FA Cup, a League 2 football, 3 relegations, mass debts, countless owners and near liquidation more then once Not success in my book.
He would only be used sparingly. He might be more clinical then Nugent and better in the box but he offers nothing that Nugent doesn't already. As I said I would have him in the same role as Chris Powell had but unless a striker leaves then I don't see the point of signing another striker
I actually think Gary Taylor-Fletcher has been a pretty good signing. The little he's played has been unspectacular but very solid- he knows how to close a game down and has had the odd good moment- his finish against Bolton was pretty nice as was his assist for Dyer against Watford. I think he's a really good professional and seems to quite enjoy his role here; who doesn't enjoy being top of the league I guess.
Also Harry cant be blamed for portsmouth - if they give you the finances then you spend it dont you. The manager doesnt decide how much, just who to spend it on.
@JasonBourne1986: Pearson also responds to Kevin Phillips being linked with #lcfc. Says it "surprises" him that other managers comment on matters elsewhere.
No of course not ... but footballing success IS measured in trophies ... not by annual membership of the top league and a healthy bank balance - that may constitute a well run club but not a successful one ... a nd ours isn't actually succesfully run by the way ... the value of share capital is likely to exceed its real market value (i.e the combined asset value) - if that is the case the auditors will probably require the club to 'impair' those assets i.e write them down in the books of the club - a charge that goes to the profit and loss account which means we are then likely to record a fairly big trading loss - which would be mitigated by the financial rewards of promotion - and future years - but it is still a loss - not as bad as having the debt admittedly - our owners have done a very good thing for us in terms of the longer term future
Id agree with both to be honest, Pompey have been a success on the field, but a failure in a business sense. If you think a successful club is one that gets silverware while balancing the books, there's only one in recent times and that's Swansea.
Too right Pearson. Redknapp is trying to detract from his team's underwhelming performances in this division as a whole by, ridiculously, trying to refer to our squad as better than theirs. Considering all the talent they have he actually is doing a pretty shoddy job and Pearson is being right on by telling Redknapp to keep his nose out.
Kevin Phillip's is on Soccer AM now, just said he had a very positive meeting with a Manager last night and hes staying in the Midlands area for his next move. Wonder if it is you.
It's either us or Wolves apparently. Wonder if he wants first team football (would surprise me) or one last shot at promotion with a chance to become a coach after (what we're apparently offering).
Would be agood signing in my opinion, your clearly the best side in the Championship this season and with the sort of service you can offer a player like Phillips he could get you some goals without a doubt.
I'd agree with your last point in particular ... if we'd had Kevin Phillips all season and he'd had David Nugent's chances we'd arguably be a further 6 points clear ... Nugent has other qualities mind and might be used behind a front two as an attacking midfielder ... might suit him as it takes away the pressure of being one of the main strikers ...
Nugent has played very well this season when he has played behind Vardy. Nugent has created a lot of chances for both Vardy and Dyer
Credit where its due Fosse Leicester have been very good this season, glad you stuck with Pearson as i know some wanted him out in the Summer. Hopefully you'll go up, we stay up and all the cross board 'banter' 'bitching' can start again.
Ha ha, to be fair its really quiet on here these days, only a handful of you now, it might bring your board alive again.
Sky Sports Transfer News: Kevin Phillips has been linked with a move to Leicester following his release by Crystal Palace. Foxes boss Nigel Pearson is not ruling out an offer for the veteran striker. "The last time I worked with him (at West Brom) he scored a hat-trick so it would be a bit silly not to be partly interested - but we'll see what happens".
