The increase in season-ticket sales reflects the faith Leicester City fans have in the club's owners. That is the view of Cliff Ginnetta, the head of the official Supporters Club. City have already sold 12,500 season tickets and are targeting 16,000 sales. Ginnetta said the increase is down to the excitement among supporters about the club's future. This time last year, City had sold 10,000 after reaching the play-offs the season before, but early sales and the numbers renewing on the Early Bird scheme have already eclipsed that figure. "I think the last time we sold that many season tickets was when we were
How many did we sell in totl last season?? 14,000?? These extra ticket holders better contribute to the atmosphere though!!!
That's the problem Joe, the singers in L, J and K are all season ticket holders anyway, the people who are going to buy season tickets this year will be people who wont contribute to the noise levels. Good to have larger crowds more regularly though! The people who WILL add to the atmosphere soon enough will be the kids who are in the family stand, they are next to the away fans and Jobber and his crew, so eventually they will make the switch to the east stand! Bit off topic, but I've wanted to say that for a while...
You're right there Steve, that's why I've recently been putting so much emphasis on the importance of a good deal for younger fans.
The Kop needs to be moved! I know it's been pettitioned before but that was under Milan 'the money' Mandaric! These new dudes on the block are fan happy so maybe they will do it?? The atmosphere is generally turd unlesss we get a **** decision by the ref or we come from behind...neither of which are wanted!!
If the Kop was moved now though it would make a joke of the name 'Kop'. Can you imagine Liverpool moving theirs just to make it close to the away fans? Anyway, why would it definitely make a better atmosphere? People who previously sat/stood in the Kop may not want to move. it might make both stands rubbish instead of one OK and one rubbish.
Call it the KOP call it the 'Tight fitted T-shirt Bumboys Stand' I don't care as long as everyone there moved to the new area. There are a lot of singers in the Kop myself included that get drowned out by the silence of the other stands. If people want to stay put then fine, but it would be better than having the half empty Family stand next to the away fans!
You're drowned out by silence because there are a lot of people silent in the Kop. People don't have to sing just because the away fans are near them, there's just a lot of people that choose not to. Say the Kop did swap to the other end and everyone who sat there moved to the other side. Would the Kop, in it's new position really be more atmospheric? Or would it just sound better being in there because the away fans and the East Stand are making noise? And wouldn't it make a whole half of the Stadium completely silent, instead of the atmosphere being spread around a bit more like it is now? When this idea of moving the Kop was first thought up I thought it was a good idea but the more I think about it the more I think it wouldn't be a positive change if it did make a difference. It seems a bit petty and smalltime when we all know the real problem is the mentality of fans - some people just don't want to sing. This is why I grow tired of these ideas, just like the Fosse Boys. It's all well-meaning but at best it will make a small, hardly noticeable difference. There are other changes to the Stadium which might make the atmosphere better, such as lowering the roof or making the pitch closer to the stands. But we can't really affect any of these things and again, would they make a huge difference? I can't even see safe-standing making a difference. (It would not be like the packed terraces the older generation remembers). You can't change the modern mentalities so all individuals can really do is sing their hearts out and hope others do the same. Anyway it will never happen.
