"Under the circumstances we do not feel it is appropriate for Mr Clattenburg to officiate any of our matches until this matter is resolved.""

That'll be why we're continuing it, then!

Clattenburg has a history of making objectionable comments to players. Having read what he is supposed to have said I can understand why the club made a complaint, in private, as the comment seems pretty spiteful and unnecessary. Maybe it would be in his interest to moderate his tone a little bit in future. However, I can also understand why PGMOL don't think it warrants any punishment.

Seems like the more substantial part of the complaint was in reference to him feeling pressurised to favour Everton after a long time not refereeing their games due to previous controversial decisions against them. That's quite a serious accusation really and I'm not sure what they expected to get out of that. It's not like they are going to make that judgement based on maybe one or two contentious calls.

Perhaps the intention is to simply make a statement that we feel we are being refereed unfairly in general. I have to say, judging by the success of Ferguson and Mourinho in complaining about referees, it might not be a bad strategy. The squeaky wheel tends to get the grease after all. Just hope it doesn't backfire!

It's most unlike Cortese to get this riled over refereeing decisions or comments.

BBC saying the comments they were given come from the PGMOL, and not Saints - they imagine we have a different version.

Adam should have said "you're not the same since you were accused of being a racist"

No, because that would be untrue. He was a **** ref before, and he is a **** ref now. :D

When things like this have happened at other clubs, we usually say that you can't pick and choose your refs. This little row should see us through a boring transfer window. :)

Oh yeah, I'm sure that wouldn't have had any adverse consequences...

The real question here is, will Lallana and Clattenburg shake hands? Bet Sky are loving it.

How far in advance are referees picked for games? Do we know when Clattenburg was next scheduled to be in one of our games?

It is very embarrassing to have complained about that.

Saints have made fools of themselves.

Blimey, being called embarrassing by a fan of a club managed by Redknapp. This is, indeed, a new low....

Saints have every right to complain if they feel someone has been unprofessional. Lallana may even have felt that this reflected a bias against Saints if a ref feels free to be rude. I wonder if it is Nicola or Mauricio flouncing....I suspect the latter with Cortese supporting his decision.

I actually think Clattenburg criticising Lallana for changing since his England call up is incredibly disrespectful and angers me more than saying "give it a rest you twat" or something. It implies that he sees Saints as upstarts and our players as getting too big for their boots. It makes me wonder if refs really do have an idea of who are big and who is small...

Were you the one that said all Saints fans are arrogant arse holes and you hate living around us?

    Can imagine the conversation.

    Adam: I was insulted.
    Nicola: Be the bigger man.
Mauricio: They are biased against us.
    Nicola: Relax
Adam: I think that he considers us a little club.
    Nicola: Get my gun!

It was Clattenburg who refereed the last time Mauricio was angry, wasn't it?

Norwich away last season when Mauricio went into the centre-circle at full-time to complain?
