Woman admits buying £3,500 watch stolen from home of Garry Monk - Swansea City club captain A WOMAN found with a £3,500 watch which had been stolen from Swansea’s club captain Garry Monk’s home bought it for just £20. Donna Williams had bartered with her cousin about how much she was willing to pay for the watch because she thought the £30 he had asked for it was too much to pay for what she believed was a counterfeit watch. The pair eventually agreed on a £20 sale It was later revealed the designer watch had been stolen during a burglary of Mr Monk’s Killay home. He had been away having knee surgery when his home was targeted and was told about the break-in after he came round from surgery. Other items stolen included a computer containing pictures of his daughter and an initialled kitbag. After the burglary he said he would be upping the security at his home. Williams, aged 33, from Brokesby Road in Bonymaen admitted a single charge of handling stolen goods, namely a white female’s Chanel watch, during a hearing in front of city magistrates. The watch was traced to her after police searched the phone of a man arrested in relation to another burglary. That man, her cousin, had been sending her messages arranging a price for the watch. When police later searched her home they found the stolen watch. Prosecutor Andrew Smith said she had accepted that knowing her cousin was a drug user and she should have been suspicious. Magistrates gave her a 12 month community order and told her to complete 120 hours of unpaid work. She was also told to pay £85 in costs and a £60 victim surcharge. - EP
Oh... Now the Ant Hill Mob have a lead, I hope her family reads this, soon they will experience hell on earth and they will find out that their so called friends will be too scared to step in help them. It's in their interests to give all information over ASAP.
Brokesby Road in Bonymaen was always a problem area with significant levels of crime, not sure if things have changed, but a bit like Blaen-y-maes. Donna Williams bought the watch for £20 from her cousin who was a drug user? Says it all doesn't it! hope Monk gets the digital stuff back, like photo's etc, notice he's going to up his security, silly boy. New this was a drug driven burglary, most are..............................
Crazed Swans fans will find him, beat him, when he is out of hospital, find him, beat him and repeat and repeat and repeat... That street won't do anything to stop it, they don't know the enemy, it could be anyone. They are best advised to draw their curtains closed and pretend the noises aren't real.
Community service is no deterrent for anyone i don't care what anyone says. A minimum of 3 years inside rising for every additional offence would make most think twice before repeating an offence. Iv seen some of these scum on community service and its a joke. I once had a mini bus full sent to my house to do some gardening and the mess they left was unbelievable. two of the idiots left early after about an hour and the guy looking after them just turned a blind eye. My grandchildren would have put in a harder shift than that lot.....community service is a big joke and the scum laugh at it as a badge of honor...
The police should be able to trace all the events now and chain of sales, remember there was £20,000 worth stolen?
How has a player as outstandingly ordinary as Gary Monk managed to earn so much in his career that he can afford to pay £3,500 for a watch?
Well we have been in the Prem for three seasons. The fact he's not a regular doesn't make a difference, he's still on a massive wedge. Monk is a very decent player at Championship level but is patently not good enough to be in the Prem. But even in the Championship these days the players are on very good salaries.
"outstandingly ordinary - Gary Monk" It's always sad to read such statements as this, especially when the player in question was a hero to many not so long ago. Gary Monk may not be up to Premier League standard, but his commitment and effort in the name of the Club, albeit in lower leagues, deserves a tad more respect.
I tend to agree. He saved us at Wembley with that block. But in fairness Lone did say he was outstanding - in a way. :/ I hate to see players who wear the shirt name-called as well. De Guzman has been called "De Goose" and De Useless" by the usual suspects lately on this board despite putting in excellent performances of late and managing stats that make him the third best passer of the ball in the League. You can only hope the players don't read that crap. For me, if a player isn't good enough you can say so without resorting to that sort of thing. Now don't get me started on Vasquez.
Gary Monk has served us well, but I stand by the original comment. He is a fine example of an old school centre half. Rugged, hard working, combative but not in any way skilful.
Your "original comment" was that he is/was "outstandingly ordinary",which is not quite the same as your latest comment. "not in any way skillful". Having played professional football at the highest level,he must have some skill.
Monk had some ability as a CB but I wouldn't class him as particularly skillful. Positionally he was excellent and he did a decent job for us at a lower level, being one of the important cogs in the machine that got us up, but he is pretty much a passenger in the Prem. No disrespect to him at all but that's the harsh reality I'm afraid.
I loved Garry Monk's man marking style. It really put off opposing centre forwards as they aren't used to a CB trying to wear the same pair of shorts they ran onto the pitch with. Close marking is not the half of it (puts me in mind of Skrtel at Liverpool).
