By reading these post I would imagine not many of the posters would remember, or even be around when Millwall fans caused mayhem practically every week. Liverpool, Man Utd, and all the usual top teams all have a rich Premier (old 1st division) history that I hope one day we can some how emualate. If you can spare a few moments then take a look at some of the threads of banter between Man Utd/Liverpool fans, likewise Liverpool/Everton or Arsenal/Spurs, Chelsea/Arsenal, you get the drift.

There is some bile, that is only to be expected as even posters on our own threads seem to post nothing else, but some of the gags that flow back and forth are truly hillarious. Sarcasm is supposed to be the lowest form of wit goes the saying but plenty of it gives me a laugh now and again when I read it. The difference these days of course it is mostly electronic banter and bile but on the terraces it often enlightened a dull game, well it did at Boothferry Park.

And I do recall one dull eveing match in appalling weather, can't remember the opposition, when one particular city player of the day (3rd division) was having a shocker. So much so that the stadium was practically silent as yet another city attack came to nothing and then out of the crowd came a shout that nearly had the whole stadium erupt in laughter and even the players had a smile when it was heard.

"Come in number 10 your time is up" and I do not think substitutes had even been introduced at that point.

Seems to me that too.much is made of the so-called plastics. Get on with the football, let folk enjoy the games (regardless of their reason for being there) and live and let live. You are all getting a tad pathetic, to be honest; just another bee for your bonnets. :emoticon-0113-sleep

Hmmm, I dont agree. I bring up Heysel cos it's completely brushed under the carpet where we constantly hear about Hillsborough. Liverpool refuse to play on the anniversary of Hillsborough and expect, nay demand, the football world falls into line. If they reached a Champions League final to be played on the anniversary of Heysel what do you think their reaction would be? That to me suggests a disaster is only a problem when it affects Liverpool rather than is caused by them.

This. Heysel was caused by pure barbaric hooliganism too. I'd wager the ones that charged an cause it were pleased with their handiwork.

A disaster is a disaster. It doesn't matter whose fault it is. We need to learn from them and make sure they don't happen again.

I totally agree, that's precisely what I'm saying. The attitude towards both Heysel and Hillsborough should be exactly the same but I really dont think it is purely because in one situation Liverpool is the victim and in another the cause. As I said, can you honestly see Liverpool flatly refusing to play a Champions League final on 29th May?

Never forgotten nor excused by us. You're accusations are unfounded and based on ignorance (not really a surprise there) and I'm still not sure why another 96 innocent fans deserve to die because of a few knobheads who threw a brick at your bus....now that seems like strange justice doesn't it Mr Hat?

Sorry but you picked the wrong man to claim is uneducated about Italian football. I know full-well that the pretty mosaic was universally ignored by Juventini who thought it a shameful, meaningless insult to those brutally murdered in Heysel and instead turned their back whilst you tried to wash the bloodstains of your hands.

Straight question - if Liverpool were due to play in the UCL final on 29th May, would you watch?

Nobody on here actually thinks 96 fans deserved to die because of a few knobheads throwing a brick. <doh>

I know exactly how it was taken by the Juve fans (who conveniently forget their own supporters part in the Heysel disaster....they didn't turn up with iron bars, knives and starter pistols to make a blue peter xmas decoration did they) as I was there. If you're such an expert on Italian footy you will understand the problems they have with hooliganism all too well.

However the accusation above was that we'd forgotten about it was it not? Post Heysel English football and especially LFC were held to account and punished rightly. Those at the forefront of the hooligans were jailed...rightly. Can we say the same about those responsible for Hillsborough? Nah. Can't imagine why that is eh.

No bloodstains on my hands lad and yes I'd watch it. Why wouldn't I? If we were due to play Juve and they were stupid enough to schedule the final for that date I would expect Juve to protest and us to respect that. I wouldn't expect any other team not to play on the Hillsborough anniversary would I so it's an irrelevant question.

To stop this deteriorating further, I'm closing the thread, at least for a while.

If anyone has any information on the coach incident, Merseyside Police are the ones to contact.

If anyone feels the need to discuss the other historic incidents, I suggest the Liverpool board's the place you'll get a more in depth discussion as most on here will mainly know what we've read in the media.
