You've got more goals in you that Jozy right now Cest. That doesn't mean Shane Long is the answer.

He's put of contract at the end of the season, meaning he will be cheap

He is quick and makes runs that the midfield could distribute too and therefore would be another option for Poyet...

Wouldn't be a bad player to have I'm the squad at all

Shane Long is sort of okay but not prolific...probably better than Graham and Dozy but not as good as Fletcher

FIFA agent Daniel Amerini suggests Mirko Vucinic and Fabio Quagliarella would be good signings for Sunderland.

Sunderland could revive interest in Ignacio Scocco as Gus Poyet looks for goals

The Black Cats were interested in the forward in July, and might take a second bite at the cherry

Sunderland have been offered forward Ignacio Scocco as they look to add some firepower to their side in January.
Director of Football Roberto De Fanti considered bringing Scocco in last summer but was put off by the £4million fee for a 28-year-old.
The forward instead joined Brazil's Internacional, but didn't settle and will be allowed to leave the club this winter.
The Porto Alegre club are willing to loan out the striker, who was top scorer in Argentina last season, and Scocco's representatives are hoping that the Black Cats will revive their interest.
A return to his homeland remains a possibility, but Inter want a permanent deal in the region of £3million that may be too costly for suitors River Plate and Racing Club.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is no doubt hoping to significantly strengthen his relegation threatened squad in January and will look to bring in QPR veteran Shaun Wright-Phillips according to the Daily Mirror.

A move to bring the 32 year old back to the top flight is perhaps not one that Black Cats fans would have predicted, not least as the former England man has barely featured in Harry Redknapp’s first team set-up this term.

The former Chelsea and Man City man has started just four Championship fixtures this season and as such is not a player that one can imagine playing a helpful role in steering Sunderland clear of the relegation zone.

Poyet’s side sit bottom of the Premier League but are just two points from safety and the Uruguayan has guided the Stadium of Light side to the Capital One Cup semi-finals.

It's known that the transfer activity at Hartlepool this January is expected to be minimal but a name has already surfaced as a potential arrival.

Colin Cooper has made it clear that he doesn't want to see any departures from Victoria Park, as well as saying that massive changes to players coming in aren't needed but admitted in the wake of the New Years Day defeat to Bury that he'd already made enquires about a player.

The Pools boss was cagey in his responses given but the understanding from Sunderland is that Mikael Mandron could be a player of interest and a loan spell with Hartlepool from the premier league side could be possible?

It's not imperative that Cooper conducts his business this month anyway, as the loan window will be open soon after the January window closes but the giant 6ft 3in 19-year-old striker could be just what the doctor ordered? So long as it doesn't mean the ball was constantly lumped up top for him!

This site is looking for an editor (at least contributor), so if a fan can offer us a genuine opinion from someone that supports them we would love to share it with the masses!

A cluster of Premier League clubs have been alerted to the availability of Jermaine Jones, with the likelihood of the player leaving Schalke this month growing stronger.
The 32-year-old, who spent time on loan at Blackburn Rovers three seasons ago, hasn’t travelled to the club’s January training camp in Doha.
And Jones, out of contract in the summer, wants a move away from Gelsenkirchen quickly. Schalke are keen to make some money back on the midfielder they signed in 2007.

Aston Villa, West Brom, Sunderland, Norwich and Crystal Palace are all keeping tabs on the situation.
Although his spell at the Veltins Arena is coming to an end, Jones has made 18 appearances for Schalke this season - including both Champions League defeats against Chelsea.
Any move to England would be short-term, with Jones desperate for game time ahead of the World Cup in Brazil this summer.
The midfielder has been capped 38 times for the USA - despite being born in Germany.

Danny graham, Barcelona, Bayern munich are fighting to secure his services in a £30 m deal !. But joking apart I reckon there will be 5 English under 21's in every premier squad in the future and they will get about 28 matches a season, to gain experience, then play for England that is the way forward, and if players like Jack Baldwin can do it that is fine by me give him a chance and he will be chuffed coming here.

Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback is a January target for West Brom and Swansea.

Colback, 24, is out of contract at the end of the season and is now free to talk to foreign clubs.

There is also strong interest in him from the Premier League as a bargain option, because his deal is almost done.

The Swans and Baggies are watching closely, as he has impressed this term even though the Black Cats are rock bottom and favourites for relegation.

Colback has made 21 appearances this season under the sacked Paolo Di Canio and successor Gus Poyet, and scored the equaliser at Cardiff last month as Sunderland fought back from 2-0 down with seven minutes left to snatch a point.

Hull City and Celtic are willing to test Sunderland’s resolve to hold on to striker Steven Fletcher.
The 26-year-old cost Sunderland £12million but after a series of niggling injuries has managed three goals in 17 games.
Sunderland have struggled to convert chances as the threat of relegation grows ever greater.
They have considered Nahki Wells at Bradford and have been linked with Ignacio Scocco and Diego Forlan of Internacional and Fabio Quagliarella of Juventus but their league position is making it difficult to attract the quality Gus Poyet requires.
Hull manager Steve Bruce is a fan of Fletcher but the Scotland striker would need to take a pay cut and Hull’s offer would not exceed £6m.
Bruce is also interested in Celtic striker Georgios Samaras but Atletico Madrid are keen too and expected to outbid Hull.
