We have been linked with better than Le Fondre. Just because we have pressers and passers on other parts of the pitch doesnt mean we dont need one up front as well. In the Prem this seems vital.
This might be correct in the championship. I feel in the prem, you need a striker who is more than just a one trick pony. What is his goals dried up? He doesn't really offer much else.
What does Defoe offer if his goals dried up? Granted Le Fondre does seem most effective off the bench but for relatively cheap he'd be worth having cause fundamentally he can do what our current strike force aren't doing.
Point being is that we need a goalscorer, an instinctive goalscorer. We have wonderfully creative players in Thudd, Boyd, Koren, Elmo etc and it busts my balls watching Graham and Sagbo stood in wide areas on these players toes. Yes I'd take Defoe over Le Fondre.
I totally get what you mean, but why settle for a lower calibre of player, when we are being linked with higher?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-Fletcher-6m-transfer-target-Hull-Celtic.html Steven Fletcher mentioned again. It would have to be £6m apparently, and he'd need to take a pay cut. He's a great striker, but he seems injury prone.
Money would be the only reason we'd go for Le Fondre over those linked. Le Fondre would be peanuts compared to Ings, Rhodes, Defoe even Long.
£3m for Jake Livermore? Bargain! Get him signed up Brucey! (also £800,000 for Tom Cairney was a good fee to receive). http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tottenham-transfer-news-hull-make-2980992
Man Utd willing to listen to offers for Buttner? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tays-Wigan-despite-Swansea-Hull-interest.html .....I think he'd be a great option at left-wing-back. Probably better suited to it than he is at left-back.
If Galatasaray are after him I don't think we'd be in his plans. Though I would have him here if possible, we need someone else down the left. Also, looks like Powell is staying at the DW Stadium.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/...eague-clubs-chasing-monaco-winger-nabil-dirar perhaps we are one of them?
I'm certain it was mentioned that he was homesick.... Turkey is a lot further from The Netherlands. Geography would actually work in our favour.
We're being linked(along with Everton) with a move for Aiden McGeady, at Spartak Moscow, who is out of contract in the summer.
I mentioned him a few weeks ago, he'd a be a class signing. Don't see us competing with Everton for his signature though.
