We are joint favourites with Wet Spam to sign him on Sky Bet

Not sure about him but I know we were after him when he came down from rangers.

He's underperforming and overpaid so would fit in well here!

That's the problem isn't it, he'd be good at this level but as he's proving, not very good in the Premiership, as is the case with most of the strikers we're linked with. The only ones we possibly could get who would be good enough, are players like Crouch and Defoe who are coming to the end of their top flight careers and both of whom will cost far more than they are now worth.

But then do you go for the young hopefuls who may do a job now, and might make the step up, but then they might not, or pay over the odds and probably guarantee promotion?

It's a crappy predicament and one I'm glad I don't have to make. But if I did have to make the choice, I'd buy either Crouch or Defoe if either became available, just cause you know we would get goals with them, sod the amount cause we do need promotion and the added TV revenue would cover it. But then I'd also take a punt at Nakhi Wells cause he's young, fast and will be eager as hell. And at just a couple of million it's not much of a risk, just taking him with us to the Prem would pretty much mean a profit.

Smart move though, if we want Carlton Cole.
By targeting West Ham's potential signings, we're creating ourselves a bargaining chip... "Okay, we won't get in a bidding war with you for Jelavic- if you give us Cole once you've signed the Croat."

I think Nakhi Wells would be a fairly long shot but one I'd like us to take. We do have a habit of buying young talent & destroying them, never to be seen again. Jelavic hasn't had a run of games for a while & may well flourish with us, don't see him as a big Sam type of striker.

Under Sven we offered him a mega wage but he still chose Everton on a lower one.

I think PL is his priority. I'd be surprised/glad if you got him. He's not the player he was.

Not saying you are wrong but maybe he just didnt like your club?

But as sides like West Ham are interested what do you think you could offer that they can't?

Astronomical wages, yes. But i'm just pointing out that that wasn't his priority with us.

Like i say mate, we may not be able to offer him anything that WHU can. The point i was making is that your post seems to make him out as not the player he was, just because he turned you down when you offered him a load of dosh.

Its not only about that and maybe that was his way of saying " I f**king hate Leicester and wouldnt sign for all the money in the world" ? It doesnt mean he's become a worse player, just that for what ever reason, he didnt want to sign for you. (no offence meant)

Try looking at it from his point of view, not that of a LCFC supporter and you may see whay i mean? Otherwise your posts sounds a bit bitter that he didnt sign for you.

When he was at Rangers he was scoring goals for fun and could he knew he could get into a PL team.

Now he isn't and as a similar situation arises (big PL team and smaller SBC team want him but latter can offer higher wages).

But now because he isn't scoring so highly he might think. I could sit on the bench for a PL side or I could earn a **** load at a SBC side who are in with a shout for promotion and rebuild my reputation and confidence at a higher level.

So thats a different way of looking at it.

Either way, I wanted Jelavic when he was scoring goals (he was banging them in the PL too) but I don't think i'd have him now. Mainly down to cost but also because he's totally shot of confidence and it looks like he's been found out. He should be in his prime, but he's not performing well enough.

I don't think he could have a reason to hate us. We'd never played him before or anything like that.

I just think he thought that Everton are in the PL and have always been whereas Leicester, despite their money, haven't been in years. There is no bitterness from Leicester fans.

    Oh, and one more point.

We bid something like 6.5m for him but the eventual figure that Everton got him for was closer to 4m. This was down to Rangers owing Everton some money.

We've got to be careful, could end up with Fat Sam as well. Then even I'd be begging for Harold to come back.

Redknapp is 1-2 to be West Ham's next manager. Just a matter of when?

If redknapp leaves shortly to take over Wet Spam, id gladly eat humble pie and say that all you Harry doubters were 100% correct.

I'd lose what little admiration I have left for the man regardless of what he has done so far

    IF.......???
