If they had put "John Pilger Hates Britain" on the front of the Daily Mail instead of Ralph Milliband I would have beleived them.
there is no real interest in it over here. last time they played a game at subiaco (perth) it didn't sell out and WA is a massive AFL state. I did however go to a work breakfast where Mick Malthouse was the guest speaker (highly respected AFL coach for those that do not give a **** about such things) and he waxed lyrical about the cross code game. He said one of the proudest and best days of his life was coaching an australian team in ireland
The GAA guys say they love it too. I think they recognised the rules needed sorting all the same. They don't get the chance to represent their countries too often. Another fear in the GAA is that it is ripe ground for poaching players. Ricky Nixon held camps here for trialling lads. Tadhg Kennelly's job is to bring guys to Oz. I watched a game of rugby yesterday and the fly half has an All Ireland minor medal..... Lost to a game where he is only middlin'. Kerry lost Tommy Walsh who was a really good gaelic footballer. I don't know how good he is at afl. Setanta O'hAilpin Is only ok at AFL but was a star in hurling. Ciaran Sheehan was set to play hurling and gaelic football next summer. After playing in this series, he's now off to Oz to try his hand at this. ****in heart breaking.
Nelson MANDELLA was on the US terrorist list until 2008. HMQ laid a wreath at the Garden Of Remembrance in memory of The Boys Of The Old Brigade. Wonder how Bobby Sands MP will be remembered in a decade or so? Might a well be Sir Bobby Sands in memorium.
