    St Mirren have agreed a deal to sign Newcastle United striker Adam Campbell on loan when the transfer window opens next week.

    The teenager, who turns 19 on New Year's Day, took in yesterday's 4-1 home win over Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership.

    Campbell, who made his first-team debut for the Magpies last season and had a brief spell on loan at Carlisle at the start of this campaign, has represented England at U19 level.

    Good move for him. Hopefully they will give him plenty game time and he can come back with the same progression Dummett did.

    Will be keeping an eye on that hopefully he can score hatfuls of goals north of the border and come back with some good first team experience.

    He's a good little player, much better for him to be playing first team football against better opposition than playing in the reserves.

    Very exciting player.

    Unfortunately this season he's wasted 6 months of it (not his fault) by not securing a loan move. I think 6 months in Scotland and then hopefully 6 months in the Championship (maybe we could loan him to Sunderland so he still has his family close by) could well see him back with us and pushing for a starting place in the second half of next season.

    19 year old striker Adam took just 17 minutes of his debut for St. Mirren on Thursday to make his mark, turning in the box and converting with a low shot to give his new side the lead in their SPFL visit to Kilmarnock.

    Both he Adam and fellow Magpie loanee Conor Newton played the full game at Rugby Park, Killie taking all three points thanks to an extra time winner that made it 2-1.

    Formal confirmation of an extension to Newton's current loan agreement at St. Mirren is awaited.
