well he is now getting European experience as a manager, and where would he have gone at the time as Spurs thought they was ok with AVB and Arsenal always seem happy with Wenger.

not sure he could have done much better if he left, unless abroad, utd?

What's the matter Tobes? You're never shy in pulling someone else's post apart to try and exploit some ambiguity. You enjoy mocking people with a scathing one-liner but get a bit sniffly when it comes back at you.

It's not semantics for its own sake, it's using words to convey your meaning accurately.
To see similarities in a player doesn't mean you're saying one is as good as the other, just that there are some echoes in the way they play or their career trajectory or something.
An observation, or a hope maybe, but not necessarily in need of your sarcasm.

Have the careers of the succession of managers shown the door at Chelsea by the impatient Russian, suffered for it?
(the only reason Di Matteo is still sat on his hoop is that they're still paying him £130k per week btw)

Has Benitez career suffered as a result of what happened at Anfield? (don't agree that FSG were the sole cause of his demise btw)

I think everyone knew that the Venkys had lost the plot when sacking Allardyce & thought it was a mad decision & his career has also been unhindered as a result.

Same as Mackay, he's still regarded as a fine young manager, despite the fact he's been binned by Tan

If he fails to keep them up this season, then the amount of damage it'll do his reputation would be slight imo.

Maybe you should have correctly digested the posts in question before deciding to wade in with an attempt at exposing a faux pas.

    As the post I replied to was this;

Which is making a direct comparison between the 2 players, thus equating their abilities as youngsters.

    0/10 must try harder

  5. That's slightly different in that the managers that Chelsea got in already had a superb reputation built up (bar RDM).

Fair enough though. I just think its much easier to damage a reputation than it is to build one, OGS hasn't got that much of a reputation yet despite doing very well in Norway.

PS...FSG? Rafa had already left by the time they took over <ok>

  7. Not at all. It suggests that Coutinho reminds the poster of C.Ronaldo. The only person here that knows what was meant by that comment is the person who posted it.

In the past, I've said Henderson reminded me of Lucas, Aspas of Kuyt, Coates of Paletta. None of them meant I thought they were going to be the same player, they just had a ability, technique, passion or aspect of the other guy. I do suspect the suspicion shown in your post to be right though.

See what you've done there soft lad is craftily miss off my second sentence that clarifies what I meant was that Ronnie at Utd had issues at the sharp end of the pitch, wasn't scoring or creating much at first, even though his more than eminent talents were showing that eventually he would do this. Our boy Coutinho is having similar issues and could similarly be a mega talent if he can channel his ability into end product, either goals or assists.

Which is why, atm, Oscar is probably a better player. He finds ways to get goals, get assists, etc. I think Coutinho with the ball at his feet can be more dangerous, but Oscar has found ways to get into better goal scoring positions and execute.

Still lots of time for him though. That run yesterday would have been outstanding had he scored!

Had he scored being the key phrase, but this is true. Bear in mind it was 'only' Hull that he did that against, needs to produce similar runs against the higher ups.

You patently haven't read the thread then 'soft lad'. As I knew exactly what you meant, but given that when Ronaldo was the same age as your man is now, he was banging them in at a rate of 1 in 2, then it makes your comparison look daft. He's also, not got the strength, pace, physical power, height, heading ability, shooting quality or eye for goal of the soon to anointed World Player of the Year ffs. In short - he's got **** all in common with him <laugh>

Of course, but at least it is showing he is maybe starting to get more confidence back in his game.

Personally, I blame that ****ing hair cut. <ok> <laugh>

Michael Owen was playing in a world cup when he was 18. Messi wasn't even a Barca regular at that age. That must make Owen better than Messi?

The point is that footballers don't develop at the same rate or age, so saying Ronaldo was scoring goals at 21 and Coutinho isn't therefore you can't compare them is ******ed.

It was obvious he was comparing Coutinho to the 19 year old Ronaldo who first joined Man Utd and had all the tricks but not much end product. Just admit you jumped on what the poster had said before reading it properly, and that you're wrong.

Zizou was 24 before anyone really heard of him after his big move to Juve. Turned out to be one of the best ever. Really hard to just compare by ages as players progress differently. Think Ronaldo was 20-21 when he first joined Barca and was making a quiet name for himself at PSV but wasn't until he was about that age, maybe even 22 that he just exploded onto the scene.

    I'm wrong?

What for taking the piss out of him comparing (at any age & in any way, shape or form) Coutinho with Ronaldo?

hahahaha, best one I've heard in ages. Of course mate, yeah I'm wrong, there's shed load of similarities between the two of them, how stupid of me, I can't believe I hadn't seen it myself. <laugh>
