bump shouldn't this be stickied? Liverpool remain keen on FC Basel forward Mohamed Salah - but reports suggesting a £7million fee has been agreed are wide of the mark. The Reds have held initial talks with the Swiss outfit but the ECHO understands that any potential deal for the Egypt international remains some way off. There has been intense speculation in his homeland that Salah would arrive on Merseyside later this week to undergo a medical and pen a five-year deal. However, that's news to Liverpool officials who have yet to make a breakthrough in discussions with Basel. There are also a number of other clubs interested in the player known as the 'Egyptian Messi' and the Swiss Super League side are in no rush to sell. Unless a compromise can be reached, Liverpool are prepared to wait until the summer when Salah, who scored both home and away against Chelsea in the Champions League earlier this season, will enter the final two years of his contract. Meanwhile, Liverpool have dismissed reports in Spain that Barcelona winger Cristian Tello will be heading to Anfield on loan for the rest of the season. Tello, who rejected the chance to join the Reds on a season-long loan in the summer of 2012, has found his opportunities limited under Gerardo Martino this term. That has led to speculation that the 22-year-old could move on in January. Liverpool did enquire about his availability but they are now looking at other options. Source: Liverpool Echo anyone else get the feeling we are going to hear wait until Summer a lot this window for players, or just not to drive up the price for players we are after?
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has agreed a 'first option' deal for Derby County's brilliant youngster Will Hughes. Rodgers will get the chance to buy the midfielder - seen as Steven Gerrard's long-term successor - as part of a pact with the Rams. The Kop chief has agreed to let England under-21 defender Andre Wisdom go to Derby on loan for the rest of the season. Steve McClaren will be able to play Wisdom against Chelsea in the FA Cup this weekend after the new terms were struck. Wisdom had been on a youth loan, with the option of going back to Anfield if Rodgers needed him. But now he has gone to Pride Park on a new basis. And as part of the transfer Liverpool have an agreement with Derby that they get the option to buy Hughes when the Rams decide to sell. Hughes has been on Rodgers's radar for months but the Liverpool boss held back from buying him because he would not go into his side yet. But the Anfield chief is a huge fan of Hughes and wants to be sure he does not lose him elsewhere if he is sold in the summer. The deal suits all parties as Liverpool now have a major say in Hughes's next move and Derby have their young talent safely tied up for the promotion push. Hughes is also settled and playing well for McClaren's side - with the Rams not looking to sell him at the moment. And giving Wisdom an extended run in the Championship has worked out well for the player too. Source: Daily Mirror
Has Mourinho said that Mata is for sale? Pretty sure I saw someone say that's what he said? Edit - http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ata-and-essien-can-leave-chelsea-if-they-wish
What Mourinho said. "Mourinho claims Mata reacted that way because he was unhappy at the scoreline - which stood at 0-0 when the former Valencia man was substituted. Mourinho does not want to lose Mata in the transfer window, and he says he would be happy to talk to the player if he is unhappy. "I want to keep him. I don't want him to go. That is my opinion, my wish, but my door is open," the Chelsea manager said". "The club's door is open too so when a player wants to speak to us we are there waiting for them. "If you are asking do you want the club to sell him? I don't want to." Jose may not say it publicly, and would not want to see that Mata leaves because of him .
Delighted if this is all true Really do rate Hughes as one of (if not THE) best youngsters in the country. Whether or not we can get the best out of him time will tell but a massively talented lad who is always looking for the ball, can run with it, can handle the rough treatment of the championship and an excellent passer of the ball too High hopes for this kid...go get him BR.
So Bayern, today or this weekend, are meant to announce the signing of Lewandowski for next year....... Has to mean Mandzukic time is up? I would love him at LFC btw! Would give us a different dimension but think that signing or type of signing can wait.
Mata, yes please.. but won't happen. Chelsea won't sell him to a rival (no, don't think we are.. yet) but they won't sell him to the likes of ManU, City or Arsenal. Therefore, he's likely to go abroad, Italian clubs aren't exactly flush with cash right now, so that would leave the likely options of Bayern, PSG, Monaco, Madrid and Barca..
Just about to say: PSG yes, Madrid possibly, but I think he could go to Barca and would be amazing there.
Have you seen much of him Billy? I've only caught him a couple of times & didn't see anything that got me excited. But I know the lad is very highly rated, so unfair to judge just on the amount of time I've seen of him.
could we do a loan deal lol as said world cup year, needs game time,Do Chelsea want to sell or not? more value in selling in Summer, get replacement in first as well keeping his value up by playing him elsewhere also. a lot of unlikleys there, but you never know. us or Everton could be a good option for him with style of football they now play lol
What is the deal with Heitinga ( think he is **** and probably good to get rid of) ? Newcastle bound? Decent profit? Interesting to see who we get surprised with this January, someone I think will be coming to LFC but Rodgers has certainly kept the names close.
Heitinga has been mince for 18 months His contract only has 6 months left & he's on big money, so I imagine he'll be leaving on a free. I've heard we're about to unveil McGeady ffs.
Aiden Mcgeady? Could be good I suppose but isn't he a bit older now? Someone on one of the talk shows here said of that potential buy "one for the future", the lad had no idea who mcGeady was obviously haha!
