Yeah Fellaini @ £15m remains our highest, with McCarthy @ £13m & Yakubu @ £11.25m making up our top 3.
That one is one of the most frustrating players to have every played for the BPL for me. One moment looks a monster, an absolute monster out there, and then next....... beyond **** how **** he could be..... and fat.
One of Martinez's key training drills since he got the job there is sending the players on a circuit of Goodison after every home match to look under the seats for spare change that supporters have dropped.
To be fair, he ruptured his achilles at Spurs & was never the same player again. It's a hideous injury & he never re-gained his previous deadly ability in front of goal. His attitude was ropey though, if he didn't fancy it, he wasn't good at hiding it.
Yakubu was a good signing, just got ruined by injury. VDM was a piss head, such a waste of talent (remember his cross for Gosling though mate? ) Bily hada wand of a left peg, but the strength of an 8 year old lad, we made dosh on AJ (scored a lovely hat trick once....) Beattie had tits.
Good thing you went on to win it. Yak also got passed around for pretty substantial fees right? The Darren Bent of Nigerian footie? Could you put Jelavic in there? Gone completely missing after that great start he had.
I didn't put Jel on my list simply because he wasn't a particullarly big fee and he did look good for 6 months....in todays market £5 mill for 6 months work seems to be the going rate....ala Benteskey being touted around for £20mill in the summer as a good example.
He'll be on his way this month & someone could well get a real steal. Scored for fun when he first arrived & had a stat of something like 40 out of his previous 44 goals had all been scored with 1 touch. He was one of the most instinctive finishers I've ever seen at Goodison, but something happened to his head & he's not been able to hit a cows arse with a banjo for over a year now - very odd. But almost certainly needs a move.
5 million for Everton is like 15 million for us. Leroy Fer was maybe a doged bullet. I have to admit I thought he was good in the dutch league but has been hit and miss for Norwich ( could be that Norwich are ****ing average though).
